Lot 347. Hartland Original 1958-63 Nellie Fox Statue. This off-white figure has a few tiny rub marks, with the most noticeable mark on the toe of his right shoe. Nice statue that stands well. Ex-m+.

Lot 348. Hartland Statues - Original 1958-63 Mickey Mantle and 1990s Ryan and Yastrzemski. The 7” Mantle figure has a dark-cream uniform and several rub marks on the forearms and one on the face, and a tiny hole (1/16”), possibly drilled, on the back. Mantle’s bat is present. The Nolan Ryan and Carl Yastrzemski statues, each about 8” to 8.25” tall, are from the 1993-94 Hartland Collection produced by Steven Manufacturing in Missouri. Each statue is numbered but without a Certificate of Authenticity or box. Each is nm.

Lot 349. 3 Statues – Gartlan Ted Williams, Hartland 1988 Dick Groat and the “Manager.” The 4.75” Williams “The Kid” figure shows damage to the bill of the cap and otherwise is mint. The 7.5” statue of Dick Groat from Harland’s 1988 25th Anniversary edition is a mint beauty in its original decorative box, which is nm+. Williams and Groat are accompanied by a 5.25” tall “Manager” figure produced by Hartland in 2005 as a premium for “Sports Collectors Digest.”

Lot 351. 10 Starting Lineup Figures – 4 Cubs, 5 BoSox, and a Jim Thome Figurine. All figures are mint in unopened packages. Chicago Cubs figures for 1988 are Andre Dawson, Leon Durham, Ryne Sandberg and Rick Sutcliffe. Dawson is present also in the 1990 edition. The 1990 package has a small corner crease. The others have one or two creases visible primarily on the back, and the 1988 Dawson and Sandberg packages have “Toys R’ Us” sales stickers; the tag on the Dawson package is partially removed. Boston Red Sox figures are all from 1988: Wade Boggs, Ellis Burks, Roger Clemens, Dwight Evans and Jim Rice. The package for the Burks figure is crease-free with curving at the top. The Boggs package has a small, light crease on the back. The three others show creases on the front. The Thome figurine is a 2005 limited edition premium from the Philadelphia Phillies, Jeep and Chrysler. Produced by BD&A, the 7.5” figurine is mint and unused in the original box, which is vg-ex. Thome is one of seven Hall of Fame players in this collection. Eighth on MLB’s all-time home run list, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018.

Lot 352. Wade Boggs 10.25” Limited Edition Collector Plate from Sports Impressions. Presenting four images of the Hall of Fame third baseman, the plate is based on an original oil painting by Brian Johnson. Numbered 162 of 2,000, the gold-rimmed plate is mint and is accompanied by a Sports Impressions’ Certificate of Registration & Authentication. A 12-time All-Star, eight-time Silver Slugger Award recipient and five-time A.L. batting champion, Boggs was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2005, the first year he was eligible. His .3279 career batting average places him 39th on baseball’s all-time list.

Lot 353. Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth Cooperstown Collection Figurines. Both are mint in their original boxes. Aaron’s 6.5” figurine, from Stating Lineup’s 1997 Stadium Stars issue, has him atop Atlanta Stadium. Ruth is in a pitching pose in his 12” figurine from 1996. A bat accompanies the “fully poseable” figure. The box housing Aaron’s figurine has a slight indentation in one corner and wear on the others. Corners of the Ruth box show slight wear. Both are free of creases and prices stickers. Aaron and Ruth have the most career MLB home runs among players in the Hall of Fame, 755 and 714, respectively.

Lot 354. 9 Starting Lineups - Bench, Fielder, Henderson, Jenkins, Lofton, Morgan, Piazza, Ripken, Yaz. All figures are mint in their original packaging. Two of the seven packages each have two players: 1999, “Freeze Frame One-on-One,” Kenny Lofton sliding into a base covered by Cal Ripken, Jr. The Lofton figure is 5.5” long, and the Ripken, 3.25” tall. The plastic packaging, shows some toning and includes a card with both Lofton and Ripken; the card appears to be mint. Joe Morgan and Johnny Bench 4.5” figures occupy the 1988 “Classic Doubles” package, which has price stickers and several small creases. Two cards, one of each player, are included; they appear to be nm-m to mint. Mike Piazza is represented by a nicely detailed 12” figure in Starting Lineup’s 1997 edition of “Fully Poseable” figures. Minor corner and edge wear on the box. Two 1997 6.5” “Stadium Stars” are in this collection, Ferguson Jenkins and Carl Yastrzemski. The Jenkins box has a side indentation and two price stickers. The Yastrzemski box has corner wear and a few edge scuffs. Rickey Henderson and Cecil Fielder, with 5.5” figures, are subjects of the 1992 “Headline Collection.” Henderson’s package includes an article from the “Oakland Tribune,” and Fielder’s, an article from the “Detroit News.” Both boxes are free of price stickers and show some shelf wear and creases, more on the Fielder box.

Two bobble heads are mint in their original boxes – a Sammy Sosa 7.5” bobble made by Bobble Dobbles for “Sports Collectors Digest” and a 7.75” traditional boy bobble with a Tampa Bay Devil Rays jersey. Twins Enterprise is the manufacturer. Sosa wears a Chicago Cubs uniform. The two other bobbing heads are boxless, including Fred McGriff, a 7.25” 2001 “Collector Edition” figure from BD&A made for radio station WFLA. With McGriff in a Devil Rays’ uniform, the bobble commemorates his 200 home runs in both the National and American Leagues. Nm+. A 9.25” Artmark bobbing head has a “Little League” designation on the back. The figure of a young catcher has a thin crack that may have been repaired across the back of the head. Otherwise, the bobble has an ex-m appearance. Also, an Ichiro Suzuki 3.25” mini bobbing head, mint in its original package. Lot 356. 12 Baseball Statues and Action Figures – Mays, Jackie Robinson, Ford, Mathews, Piazza, Etc. Seven of these figures are without their original packages or certificates. Those in their original boxes are noted. Sports Impressions (2): 1990 Willie Mays “Famous Catch,” 7” porcelain figurine, #1428, nm-m. This figurine commemorates Mays’ over-the-shoulder catch of a deep drive by Vic Wertz to center field in the eighth inning of Game 1 of the 1954 World Series at the Polo Grounds. It is regarded as one of the greatest plays in baseball history. Lot 357. 3 Sports Impressions Plates – Nolan Ryan, Ted Williams and Mark McGwire. The Ryan plate is 8 3/8” in diameter, and the two others, 4 1/8”. Titled “Farewell,” the 1993 Ryan plate features artwork by Robert Tanenbaum and is #9324 of 10,000. In 1987, Robert Stephen Simon created the Ted Williams plate, which is from “The Sports Superstar Collector Plate Series.” The McGwire plate, from the same series, presents artwork by Terrence Fogarty. All three plates are nm-m or better, in boxes, and come without certificates.

Lot 358. 8 “Legends of Baseball” Limited Edition Plates Recommended by the Bradford Exchange. These 8.25” fine porcelain plates, which are rimmed with 22-karat gold, present paintings of vintage Hall of Fame baseball stars – Lou Gehrig, Cy Young, Rogers Hornsby, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker, Christy Mathewson and Mel Ott. Delphi produced the plates, and Jeff Barson created the paintings. He is an artist and medical entrepreneur who has created artwork for the New York City Opera, Ballentine, Coca-Cola and others. He also was commissioned to paint portraits of Vivien Leigh for the 60th anniversary of the movie “Gone With the Wind” and of Princess Diana. Each plate comes with Certificate of Authenticity, a collector card and an insert noting that the “Legends of Baseball” collection is “the first baseball series ever recommended by the Bradford Exchange to depict history’s immortal ballplayers.” The condition of the collector cards varies. Lot 359. 6 Collector Plates – Mickey Mantle (3), Don Mattingly, Bobby Thomson, Walter Johnson. All three Mantle plates are from Sports Impressions. Two the same are Gold Editions from the “Sports Superstar Collector Plate Series”: Mickey Mantle, “Greatest Switch Hitter.” These 10.5” plates, with a gold rim and facsimile Mantle autograph, feature eight images of Mantle by Joseph Catalano, whose excellent artwork has appeared on numerous Sports Impressions issues. Numbered 983 and 1058 of 2,401, each plate is mint and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The third Sports Impressions plate of Mantle is from the Hamilton Collection, a 6.5” plate titled “The Legendary Mickey Mantle” from the “Best of Baseball Plate Collection.” Robert Tanenbaum provided six images of Mantle. Tanenbaum is widely recognized for his movie poster and Native American art. The plate is mint and comes with a certificate. Sports Impressions is the source of the 1987 Don Mattingly plate, which uses Brian Johnson artwork. The 10.25” gold-rimmed Autographed Edition plate recognizes Mattingly as “Player of the Year” and has a facsimile autograph in gold. The plate is #251 of 2,500, mint, comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and the original box. The Bradford Exchange is associated with the two other plates. From its “Great Moments in Baseball” series: “Bobby Thomson: Shot Heard ’Round the World” by Stephen Gardner, 8.25” plate, gold rim, mint, CoA. And, from the “Legends of Baseball” series from Delphi, recommended by the Bradford Exchange, “Walter Johnson: The Shutout” by Jeff Barson, 8.25” fine porcelain plate rimmed with 22-karat gold, mint with a CoA and Delphi collector card.
