Lot 45. Al Simmons Single-Signed Reach Official American League Harridge Baseball. Simmons’ autograph is light but readable, vg 3 to vg-ex 4, on a side panel. The Hall of Fame pitcher personalized the signature “To My Pal Al. ____” followed by “From Al Simmons.” A date on adjacent panel is partially readable as “7/3/(?).” The ball appears to be game-used; its shows some scuffs and discoloration. Simmons was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1953 after 20 MLB seasons as an outfielder, primarily for the Philadelphia Athletics, but also for the White Sox, Tigers, Senators, Boston Braves, Red and Red Sox. An excellent hitter, Simmons, born Alois Szymanski, retired after the 1944 seasons with a .334 career batting average, 2,927 hits, 307 home runs and 1,828 RBI. He was a three-time All-Star, 1929 AL RBI leader and two-time World Series champion and Al batting champion. He died in 1956. Lot 46. Goose Gossage Mint 9 to Gem Mint 10 Autograph on a Mint OML Selig Baseball. One of MLB’s earliest premier closers, Gossage was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2008. In 22 seasons, ne was a nine-time All-Star, three-time saves leader in the American League and the 1978 AL Rolaids Relief Man Award recipient. He played for the White Sox, Pirates, Yankees, Padres, Cubs, Giants, Rangers, Athletics and Mariners. His autograph is on the sweet spot. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified.

Lot 47. Very Rare Special Limited Issue Tommy Lasorda Single-Signed Baseball. On April 28, 2014, Lasorda signed 48 baseballs in conjunction with the Reagan Forum event held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum. The ball itself is pristine. It is signed on the sweet spot boldly in blue ink “Tom Lasorda H.O.F. 8-3-97”. The signature is gem mint 10. A presidential seal appears to the right of Lasorda’s signature. The text that surrounds the seal reads “The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library”. Along with Lasorda’s signature, a facsimile autograph of Ronald Reagan appears on the “sweet spot” of the opposite panel. The ball comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by John Heubusch CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. It reads “This Certificate of Authenticity from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library hereby certifies that the baseball which accompanies this document is 1 of 48 balls that were personally autographed by Tommy Lasorda.”

Lot 48. Joe Morgan Gem Mint 10 Sweet Spot Autograph on an OML Selig Baseball. Large, unimprovable autograph by the 60th best player on “The Sporting News” 1998 list of Baseball’s 100 Greatest Players. After a career that included selection for the All-Star Game 10 times, two N.L. MVP Awards, a Silver Slugger Award and five Gold Gloves, Morgan was a first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee in 1990. One of baseball’s greatest second basemen, he played for the Colt 45s, Reds, Astros, Giants, Phillies and Athletics. Morgan died in 2020. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified.

Large signature by the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers’ center fielder, who is one of only eight Major Leaguers to hit at least 40 home runs in five or more consecutive seasons. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1980, Snider was No. 83 among “Baseball’s 100 Greatest Players” listed by “The Sporting News” in 1998. He died in 2011. The baseball is mint 9. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified.
