Enos Slaughter Signed 1946 World Series “Mad Dash” Winning Run 11” x 14” Photo.

Lot 81. Enos Slaughter Signed 1946 World Series “Mad Dash” Winning Run 11” x 14” Photo. The Boston Red Sox were favored to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals in this Series. After six games, however, the Series was even. At Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis in the eighth inning of Game 7, so was the score – 3-3. Slaughter singled to lead off the bottom of the inning. Two outs later, he was still at first base. When the count reached two balls and a strike on St. Louis batter Harry Walker, Cardinals manager Eddie Dyer signaled for a hit-and-run. In response, Walker lined a pitch to center field with Slaughter running. As Boston center fielder Leon Culbertson fielded the ball and threw it to shortstop Johnny Pesky, Slaughter kept on running – right through third base coach Mike González's stop sign. By the time Pesky realized what was happening, his throw to home was too late – and Slaughter scored what turned out to be the Series’ winning run! Slaughter’s autograph is gem mint 10 on the nm-m black & white photo. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified. Minimum Bid $10.
