Collectible Mementoes from the Inaugurations of Presidents Eisenhower and Reagan.

Lot 790. Collectible Mementoes from the Inaugurations of Presidents Eisenhower and Reagan. Dwight D. Eisenhower served as U.S. President from 1953-61, and Reagan, from 1981-89. The program for President Eisenhower’s first inauguration in 1953 is nm-m in an original unmailed envelope, which is fair, complete and uncommon. The 48-page program has a full-page photo and a full-page biographical sketch of Presidents Eisenhower, Washington, Lincoln and Hoover and Vice President Nixon, and a full page with a photo and biographical sketch for Mrs. Eisenhower and Mrs. Nixon. Six pictorial pages are devoted to Ike’s life and military career, and past Presidents are pictured. There also is a 16-page program for the Inaugural Ball, ex. A 28-page “Guide Book” is present for President Eisenhower’s 1957 inauguration. It pictures the President and Vice President and otherwise provides relatively extensive information on inaugural activities, state societies, embassies and the Inaugural Committee, vg-ex. Two invitations are present for President Reagan’s 1981 inauguration – one from the co-chairmen of the 1981 Presidential Inaugural Committee, and another from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. The first is 8.5” x 11.5” and nm-m in an Inaugural Committee envelope, and the second, 6.5” x 10” with a Congress of the United States envelope. The Congressional materials also include an eight-page “Inauguration Ceremonies Program,” a map of the Capitol grounds, and 6.25” x 9.5” photos, one of President Reagan and one of Vice President Bush, both with facsimile autographs, nm. There also is a ticket to the Inauguration Ceremonies, with seating at the West Front of the Capitol, nm. Four other tickets are present, including another full ticket to the inauguration that is impressively designed and apparently is from the Inaugural Committee, nm with photos of the President and Vice President on the back, nm. Two tickets are for the Inaugural Ball, nm to nm-m, one for “The Governors’ Reception,” ex-m to nm. Finally, this collection includes the 1981 inaugural book, “A Great New Beginning The 1981 Inaugural Story,” a 192-page 9.25” x 11.5” hardback with photos and written coverage of the first day of the Reagan Administration. It also has photos and written profiles of the President and Vice President (the President’s by George Will), the First Lady and Mrs. Bush, and the Reagan and Bush Families. Inaugural events are detailed with photos and text. The book is nm, and the dust jacket, vg-ex. Winning Bid $40.
