Lot 542. 4 Presidential Inauguration Publications – for Wilson, Truman, Johnson and Carter. This collection comprises inauguration programs for Presidents Woodrow Wilson and Harry S. Truman and books covering the inaugurations and promoting the agendas of Presidents Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter. 1. The Official Program for Woodrow Wilson’s presidential inaugural on March 4, 1913, contains 32 pages detailing the day’s events and participants. It has the Great Seal of the United States on the front cover and includes six pages of “Points of Interest” in Washington, D.C. Vg-ex softcover. 2. Stars appear above an artist's rendering of iconic Washington, D.C. landmarks on the full-color front cover of President Harry S. Truman’s Inaugural Program. “ United We Stand Divided We Fall” is on the cover of this softcover program, and inside are 72 pages that include a letter from President Truman, short biographies of the President, Mrs. Truman and Vice-President Alben Barkley, illustrations or photos of previous inaugurations, and inaugural remarks from previous Presidents. Other interesting historical information and remarks are included. Vg+ to ex. 3. “Inaugural 1965,” a 120-page hardback on the inauguration of President Lyndon Baines Johnson titled “Threshold of Tomorrow: The Great Society.” This hardbound book offers extensive historical information and is profusely illustrated with both color and black & white photos. No dust jacket, front cover with a paste-down photo of the Capitol while President Johnson is taking the oath of office, nm-m. 4. “The Official 1977 Inaugural Book” for President Jimmy Carter is titled “A New Spirit, A New Commitment, A New America.” This 128-page hardbound book includes President Carter’s inaugural address, a lengthy history of the presidency by political scientist James David Barber, biographies of President Carter and Vice President Walter Mondale, and numerous color photos from their inauguration.
