1932 H. Fendrich Denby Cigars Premium of the NFL Champion Chicago Bears.
Lot 50. 1932 H. Fendrich Denby Cigars Premium of the NFL Champion Chicago Bears. On Dec. 18, 1932, the Bears met the Portsmouth Spartans at Chicago Stadium in the first playoff game to determine the NFL champion. The indoor stadium was used because of weather conditions. The Bears won, 9-0. They scored on a touchdown pass from Bronko Nagurski to Red Grange and later added a safety. The 6.25” x 9.5” black & white photo premium includes future Hall of Fame members Nagurski, Grange holding a football in the middle of the front row, George Halas, Charles Bidwell, Bill Hewitt and George Trafton. The back favorably compares pro football to the college game and promotes Denby Cigars. The premium has two small pinholes in the top border, significant crazing, which is common for this issue, a crease in the upper right and surface paper loss in each corner from tape. F-g, it displays decently. Pre-war premiums are uncommon, and this one is seldom seen. Winning Bid $138.
