1995 Texas Rangers’ Strike/Replacement Team-Signed Ball.

Lot 49. 1995 Texas Rangers’ Strike/Replacement Team-Signed Ball. Manager Johnny Oates is on the sweet spot of this nm-m OAL Bobby Brown baseball, and it’s signed also by coaches Ed Napoleon and Larry Hardy. The autographs, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are strong, almost all mint 9 or gem mint 10 except for some minor smudges. The ball is nm-m to mint. We don’t have a roster to use to identify the 26 other intriguing signatures. To our knowledge, none of the players ever made it to the majors as a player. One of the signers, Gregg Ritchie, was the Pittsburgh Pirates’ hitting coach in 2011 and 2012. Ritchie, who had a 10-season minor league career, currently is coach of the NCAA George Washington University (Washington, D.C.) baseball team. This ball could be an interesting research project. It also is a unique, tangible memento of the infamous strike that shortened two seasons and eliminated the 1994 World Series! Winning Bid $25.
