Lot 46. Eclectic Collection of 10 Autographs, with 2 HoFers – Monte Irvin and Travis Jackson. These autographs are on various media: Monte Irvin (died 2016), 1974 TCMA card, gem mint 10 autograph; he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1973. With Hank Thompson, he was the first black player for the New York Giants. Travis Jackson (d. 1987), unlined index card, gem mint 10 autograph, outfielder for the Giants, elected to the HoF in 1982. Jim Brewer (d. 1987), Dodgers postcard, nm-m 8 autograph, 1973 All-Star. Ray Herbert, unlined index card, gem mint 10 autograph in red, four teams 1950-66, 1962 All-Star. Johnny Hopp (d. 2003), 5” x 7” b&w Associated Press photo, nm 7 autograph; he played for six different teams 1939-52 and appeared in five World Series with either the Cardinals or Yankees. Bill Klaus (d. 2006), McCarthy postcard, gem mint 10 autograph on the card back; teammate Ted Williams called him “one of the greatest little competitors I ever played with.” Joe Moeller, unlined index card, mint 9 autograph; he pitched for the Dodgers in the 1960s. Jose Pagan (d. 2011), 1960 National Bank of Washington Tacoma Giants card, ex 5 autograph; he played for the Giants, Pirates or Phillies, 1959-73, and drove in the Pirates’ winning run in Game 7 of the 1971 World Series. Johnny Pesky (d. 2012), unlined 7/8” x 3” label stuck to a clear plastic backing, gem mint 10 autograph; a career .307 hitter, he was associated with the Boston Red Sox most of his life and was known as “Mr. Red Sox.” The team retired his uniform number. Jerry Reuss, Dodgers postcard, gem mint 10 autograph; he was a two-time All-Star with the Dodgers and a World Series Champion in 1981. Winning Bid $30.
