Lot 397. 2 Pittsburgh Pirates 1960 World Series Photos and 2 More from the Championship Season. 1. World Series Game 1, Oct. 5, 1960, Vernon Law about to be tagged out by New York’s Moose Skowron after accomplishing a sacrifice bunt. Duke Maas, Yankees pitcher, is also in the 8” x 10” photo, including caption. Pittsburgh won, 6-4. This AP Wirephoto from Forbes Field in Pittsburgh has several minor creases. 2. Pirates manager Danny Murtaugh alone in the dugout as his team loses, 16-3, in World Series Game 2 on Oct. 6, 1960 in Pittsburgh. The UPI Telephoto is 7” x 9” including a brief caption and exhibits one moderate and two light creases. The UPI stamp is on the back. 3. May 5, 1960 UPI 7” x 9” photo with Pittsburgh’s Don Hoak tagging out Chicago’s Bob Will. Several creases, light or light-to-moderate, UPI stamp on the back along with the caption. 4. Associated Press 8” x 10” Wirephoto of Pirates’ second baseman Bill Mazeroski and infielder Dick Schofield. This photo, which has an AP stamp on the back, is undated, but copies with a caption were dated 9/8/60. It provides outstanding images and has a small corner crease. Winning Bid $45.
