Lot 30. 7 Single-Signed Baseballs – Buck Leonard, Brooks Robinson, Billy Williams, 4 More. The other signers are Luis Gonzalez, Howard Johnson, Hanley Ramirez and Darren Daulton. Each autographed the sweet spot. With one exception, which is noted, each signature is on an Official N.L., A.L. or MLB baseball that is mint or better. Buck Leonard, Coleman ball, ex-m autograph in magenta pen, three letters darker than the others, possibly retraced. Leonard was a major star of the Negro Leagues as first baseman for the Homestead Grays. He was one of five Negro Leagues players included in “The Sporting News” 1999 list of 100 Greatest Baseball Players. He died in 1997. Brooks Robinson, mint 9 to gem mint 10 autograph on a Bobby Brown ball. An 18-time All-Star and 16-time Gold Glove recipient, Robinson was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1983, his first year of eligibility, with almost 92 percent of the possible votes. Billy Williams, gem mint 10 autograph on a William White baseball. As an outfielder for the Chicago Cubs, Williams was the 1961 N.L. Rookie of the Year, a six-time All-Star and the 1972 N.L. batting champion. He entered the Hall of Fame in 1987. Gonzalez, gem mint 10 on a Bud Selig ball. “Gonzo” was a five-time All-Star outfielder with Arizona and one of the most popular players in the team’s history. He played also for six other teams and retired with 2,591 hits, 1,439 RBI and a .283 batting average. Howard Johnson, mint 9 to gem mint 10, OML Selig ball. “HoJo” played third base for the Mets, Rockies and Cubs. He led the N.L. in home runs in 1991, played on two World Championship teams, and was a two-time All-Star and Silver Slugger Award recipient. Hanley Ramirez, Rawlings Professional Signature Series ball, gem mint 10. Ramirez, a shortstop, was the 2006 N.L. Rookie of the Year with the Marlins, the N.L. batting champion in 2009, a three-time All-Star and a two-time Silver Slugger. Darren Dalton, nm-m 9, nm-m 8 ONL White baseball. Dalton was a three-time All-Star and a Silver Slugger in 1992, when he led the N.L. in RBI. Winning Bid $75.
