3 Signed Eliot Asinof Football Books – A Week with the NY Giants and 2 Mysteries.

Lot 256. 3 Signed Eliot Asinof Football Books – A Week with the NY Giants and 2 Mysteries. Widely recognized for his book “Eight Men Out” on the 1919 World Series scandal, Asinof placed a gem mint 10 autograph in each of the three hardback books. In “Seven Days to Sunday,” Asinof details a 1967 crisis week with the faltering football Giants led by coach Allie Sherman and quarterback Fran Tarkenton. He wrote the book to provide an inside perspective on pro football after spending considerable time over two years with the team’s players, coaches and executives. The 1968 book, a stated first printing, is ex-m+, and the dust jacket, ex. “The Name of the Game is Murder” is a 1968 work of fiction with a homicide detective committed to solving the murder of an NFL coach he admired. The book is nm with a partially removed price sticker on the flyleaf; the dust jacket is g-vg with four small areas of paper loss on the spine or back. In “Say It Ain’t So, Gordon Littlefield,” a man wronged by an NFL seeks revenge by fixing the Super Bowl featuring the owner’s team. The 1977 stated first edition book is ex-m+ with a vg-ex dust jacket. Asinof autographed the title page of two books, and the dedication page of “The Name of the Game is Murder.” He died in 2008.
