Lot 248. Art Monk Gem Mint 10 Silver Sharpie Autograph on a Mint Wilson Official NFL Football. From 1980-93, Monk starred at wide receiver for the Washington Redskins and then closed out his NFL career with the Jets and Eagles. He signed a Paul Tagliabue On Field Authentic NFL Game Ball. If teammate Darrell Green was the Redskins’ “Fastest Man,” Monk was their “Quietest Man.” Or, as quarterback Mark Rypien described Monk, “Quiet about his work, very loud with his results.” Accomplishments: Pro Hall of Fame in 2008 and College HoF in 2012. Three-time Super Bowl champion, 1984 NFL receptions leader and first-team All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowl selection. Five 1,000-yard seasons. Records, since eclipsed, for passes caught in a season (106) and career receptions. First player with a touchdown reception in 15 consecutive seasons, first with back-to-back seasons recording at least 1,200 yards and 90 receptions, first to reach 820 receptions in a career, first to exceed 900 career receptions and first with at least one reception in 180 consecutive games. 1979 first-team All-American at Syracuse. In "The Sporting News" 1999 list of “Football’s 100 Greatest Players” of the 20th century, Monk ranked 91st. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified. Minimum Bid $75.
