Lot 141. 10 Postcards with MLB Players, 1 with a Softball Star and 2 More MLB Cards. The 1963 World Championship Los Angeles Dodgers team is shown in one color card (P55773) g. Seven cards are b&w: Tim McCarver, 1972 Montreal Expos team issue, ex. Bill Goodman, Boston Red Sox, excellent portrait, vg. And five postcards of John Gooch, Pittsburgh Pirates catcher, 1921-28. The cards are likely from the 1960s to early 1970s. Each of these cards identifies Gooch with his name written on the back. Vg-ex There is one card each of two photos, and three cards from a third photo. Lefty O’Doul, an outfielder for five MLB teams, is featured in a color postcard promoting his San Francisco restaurant. He ended his player career with a .349 batting average, then had significant success as a minor league manager and had a significant role in establishing professional baseball in Japan. The postcard has a 1969 postmark, g. A postcard printed in brown and white features Eddie Feigner, softball pitching great, g-vg. A 5.5” x 9” color postcard has the San Francisco Giants’ 1972 schedule on the back. Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal, Willie Mays and five other players are pictured on the front, ex. The center hole in all seven is unpunched. The records are well centered and free of creases with strong corners. The complete “roster” for this group consists of Bob Allison, Ken Boyer (2), Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax, Jim Gentile and Bill Mazeroski.
