Lot 497.  Dave Dravecky Autographed Hardback Book “Comeback.” In this apparent first edition, which he wrote with Tim Stafford, Dravecky tells the story of his baseball career, he recovery from cancer and that role of his religious faith in coping with both. His signature is mint 9 to gem mint 10 on the title page. The book is ex-m to nm in an ex dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 498.  Joe Garagiola Autographed “It’s Anybody’s Ballgame.” The former major league catcher and broadcaster signed the title page. The signature is nm-m 8, personalized and authenticated by Kevin Keating. The 1988 book is ex-m in an ex dust jacket. With humor and insight, Garagiola covers sports and non-sport topics in this hardback.

Lot 499.  Steve Garvey Signed Stated First Edition of His Autobiography “Garvey.” The Los Angeles and San Diego first baseman placed a large, bold personalized signature to “Jimmy” on the title page. His autograph is dated “1-13-93.” The book is ex+ in a similar dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 500.  Bob Gibson Signed Copy of “October 1964” by David Halberstam. The St. Louis Cardinals’ Hall of Fame pitcher placed a large autograph on the book’s first title page and added “HOF ‘81’.” Mint 9 and authenticated by Kevin Keating. Halberstam’s book focuses on the 1964 pennant races and the ensuing World Series between the Cardinals’ and the New York Yankees. Gibson won two games for St. Louis.

Lot 501.  Autobiography Signed by Tom Gorman, Major League Umpire and Pitcher. Gorman pitched five innings in four games for the New York Giants in 1939 and then had a major league umpiring career that spanned 1951-76. He also served as the league’s supervisor of umpires. His bold signature, as “‘Big’ Tom Gorman,” is on the flyleaf of his 1979 book, “Three and Two!” Dated 1981, the autograph is personalized and gem mint 10. Gorman died in 1986. The book is nm in an ex dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 502.  Tommy John Autographed “T.J.: My 26 Years in Baseball.” Gem mint unusual signature on the flyleaf; John drew a smiley face inside the bottom loop of the “J”! In offering hundreds of John autographs, we have never seen this variation before. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. Published in 1991, the apparent first edition hardback is nm in an ex dust jacket. John is 26th on the all-time major league victory list with 288. Only six left-handers have won more games.

Lot 503.  Davey Johnson Signed Copy of “Bats,” the Story of the 1985 New York Mets. Confronted with inexperience, injuries and prolonged slumps, Johnson, as manager, led the 1985 Mets to a second-place finish in the National League. The following season, his Mets captured a world championship. His personalized signature is ex-m 6 to nm 7 on the title page of the 1986 apparent first edition. The book and dust jacket are ex. Johnson wrote the book with Peter Golenbock. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 505.  Tim McCarver Autographed Book: “Oh, Baby, I Love It!” Regarded by some critics as the best baseball broadcaster since Red Barber, McCarver offers his often humorous viewpoints on baseball and related topics. His signature on the first title page is mint 9. The personalization and “Best Wishes” were traced over by McCarver, but the autograph itself was not. The 1987 book, a stated first edition, is ex in a similar dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 506.  Charlie Metro Signed Softcover, “Safe by a Mile.” Nm-m autograph on a label on the flyleaf of the 2002 softcover, which is missing the title page. Otherwise, the book is complete and vg+ to ex. Metro had an extensive career in baseball. He played for the Tigers and Athletics from 1943-45, managed part of the 1962 season with the Cubs and 1970 season with the Athletics in Kansas City and coached for the White Sox and Oakland A’s. He also managed in the minors and became one of the great scouts in the majors. He died in 2011. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 508.  Phil Niekro Signed 1986 Book “Knuckle BALLS.” In this apparent first edition, Niekro provides an insider’s opinion of Ted Turner, George Steinbrenner and other baseball figures and events. Niekro’s 318 career victories earned him a place in the Hall of Fame. His personalized autograph is nm-m 8 to mint 9 on the title page of the hardback, an apparent first edition that is ex in a similar dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 509.  Phil Rizzuto’s Signed Book on the 1949-53 Yankees – “The October Twelve.” Rizzuto (died 2007) autographed the title page and added “Holy Cow, HOF94, #10” and “MVP 1950.” Ink coverage on the first “P” is light; the autograph and additions are nm-m 8. Yogi Berra wrote the introduction to the 1994 stated first edition, which is subtitled “Five Years of New York Yankees Glory, 1949-1953.” The book is ex-m, and the dust jacket, ex. Lot 510.  Peter Uberroth Signed Book - “Made in America: His Own Story.” For his work on the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, Uberroth was selected as “Time” magazine’s Man of the Year. Subsequently, he was Commissioner of Baseball from 1984-89. Before baseball, he built one of the world’s largest travel companies. His 1985 book describes his career through the Olympics. His personalized signature is mint 9 to gem mint 10 on the first title page. The book, a stated first edition, is ex in an ex dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
