Lot 169.  Pete Rozelle (HoF) Hand-Signed 8” x 10” Black & White Photo. Strong signature that displays as an nm-m 8 against Rozelle’s suit. Rozelle was the NFL commissioner from 1960-89. He became a member of the Hall of Fame in 1985 and passed away in 1996. Photos signed by Rozelle are relatively scarce. This is an actual Rozelle siganture, not an autopen example. Lot 170.  12 Pro Football Hall of Fame Autographs – Bart Starr, Lynn Swann and Others. The signatures, all on unlined 3” x 5” index cards, are mint 9s or gem mint 10s by Mel Blount, Rosey Brown (died 2004), Joe DeLamielleure, Ted Hendricks, Dick Night Train Lane (died 2002), Lenny Moore, Jim Parker (died 2005), Andy Robustelli, Bart Starr, Lynn Swann, Jim Taylor and Jack Youngblood. All are personalized to “Jim.” Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 171.  Autographs of Jim Brown and 6 Other 1959 Cleveland Browns. Mint 9 and gem mint 10 signatures on the stationery of a Pasadena hotel by Brown, Bob Mitchell, Milt Plum, Jim Ninowski, Frank Clarke, Ed Modzelewski and Bill Howton. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 172.  Otto Graham, Pete Pihos, Ara Parseghian, Don Doll, Don Paul, John Sandusky Signatures. The autographs are mint 9s and gem mint 10s on “Chicago Tribune” stationery. They could be separated for framing with photos. Graham (died 2003) and Pihos are in the Pro Hall of Fame, while Parseghian is in the College Hall of Fame as a coach. Doll (d. 2010) and Paul (d. 2001) each made the Pro Bowl four times. Sandusky (d. 2006) played on three NFL Champion Browns teams and with the Super Bowl V Champion Baltimore Colts. Lot 173.  George Halas Autographed 3” x 5” Index Card with 6 Members of the Chicago Bears Staff. Signed in 1970 and part of the John Smith collection, this lined index card has autographs of Halas (died 1983), the NFL pioneer, team co-owner and Hall of Fame coach; George Halas Jr. (d. 1979), the team’s president; Ed McCaskey (d. 2003), vice president and treasurer; Dan Desmond, public relations director; Bob Walston (d. 1987), an assistant coach; Jim Dooley (d. 2008), who succeeded Halas as head coach in 1968, and Rudy Custer (d. 2005), the team’s business manager. Lot 174.  Signatures of 8 Top Football Coaches – 5 HoF Members - on an Index Card. The lined 4” x 6” card holds the signatures of Marv Levy, John McKay, Tommy Prothro, Len Casanova, Mike White, Pepper Rodgers, Johnny Robinson and Don James. Robinson traced over “Robi”; otherwise, the autographs are mint 9s or gem mint 10s. Levy is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. McKay, Prothro, James and Casanova are in the College HoF. Lot 175.  12 Heisman Trophy Winner Signed Photos – Cannon, Hornung, Griffin, White, Etc. The autographs are mint 9s or gem mint 10s on 8” x 10” photos. Billy Cannon (2 photos), Paul Hornung and Pat Sullivan signed b&w photos. The others autographed color photos: Archie Griffin (2), George Rogers (magazine photo), Rasham Salaam, Billy Sims (different images on each side of a page, both signed), Andre Ware and Charles White (2 different, one with USC and one with the Rams). Lot 176.  Rare Vintage Photo Signed by Art Buss, Michigan State and NFL Bears and Eagles. A Michigan native, Buss was a linemen for Michigan State from 1931-33. For two seasons, he played for Jim Crowley, one of the Notre Dame Four Horsemen. He then played for the Chicago Bears 1934-35 and the Philadelphia Eagles 1936-37. He died in 1998. Buss’ autograph is mint 9 on an 8” x 10” b&w photo personalized to John Smith. Buss added his position, “Left Tackle,” and his pro experience. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 177.  1945 Autograph of Stan Fay – 1930s Michigan Football Star. A quarterback and halfback from 1931-33, Fay led the Wolverines’ 1932 undefeated national championship team in scoring and served as captain of the 1933 undefeated national championship team. His signature is at the end of a handwritten 1945 note on B.G.F. Company, a short-lived business that he formed with other former Ford executives. His steel-tipped pen signature is mint 9, and he added “Michigan ’31, ’32, ’33.” Fay passed away in 1987. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 178.  Sid Gillman Autographed 1966 San Diego Chargers at Boston Patriots AFL Program. Gillman’s signature grades mint 9 near his image on the cover of the 58-page program. Kevin Keating authenticated it. After playing in the 1936 American Football League, Gillman had Hall of Fame careers as both a college and pro coach. He led the NFL Los Angeles Rams to the NFL title game in 1955 and captured the AFL championship with San Diego in 1963. His Chargers teams played in four other championship games. Gillman was enshrined at Canton in 1983. He passed away in 2006. The program is vg-ex and pictures Lance Alworth, Ron Mix, Tom Flores, Houston Antwine, Nick Buoniconti, Gino Cappelletti, Jack Kemp and other AFL stars. Even without Gillman’s autograph, it would be well worth our

Lot 179.  Marshall Goldberg (College HoF, NFL Cardinals) Autographed 8” x 10” B&W Photo. Goldberg is one of the better halfbacks not enshrined at Canton. At the University of Pittsburgh, he led the Panthers to back-to-back national championships in 1936 and 1937. He played for the Chicago Cardinals Cardinals from 1939–43 and 1946-48 and helped them to win the NFL Championship in 1947. He lost two seasons to World War II. In 2007, he and Emmitt Thomas were selected by the Pro HoF Seniors Committee as finalists for the Class of 2008. He wa snot selected for the class, however. Goldberg is in the West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Pop Warner Halls of Fame and the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. He died in 2006. His signature is a beautiful gem mint 10 authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 180.  Lou Groza (HoF) Autographed 11” x 14” B&W Photo. Gem mint 10 signature. The Hall of Fame tackle and kicker added “The Toe” and “HOF ’74.” Groza was a nine-time Prow Bowler in 21 seasons, all with the Cleveland Browns. An excellent place kicker, he was enshrined at Cooperstown as an offensive lineman. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 181.  Joe Jacoby Signed Super Bowl XXII (1988) Program. The Redskins dominated Denver, 42-10. Jacoby placed a bold gem mint 10 signature on the cover. A founding member of the “Hogs” offensive line, Jacoby played in four Pro Bowls and on three Super Bowl winners. AP selected him twice as an All-Pro. Ex program. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 182.  Autograph of Curtis Martin, Future Football Hall of Famer, on an OAL Baseball. Martin retired after the 2005 seasons as the NFL’s fourth all-time leading rusher. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl five times and was an All-Pro first team selection in 2001 and 2004. The NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1995, he gained at least 1,000 yards in 10 consecutive seasons. Snubbed by the NFL voters this year with some very good company, he seems certain to be chosen eventually. His signature is a gem mint 10 on the sweet spot of an nm-m OAL Budig baseball. He added his uniform number, and there appears to be a correction on the second number. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 183.  Alan Page (HoF) Signed Note. Large gem mint 10 signature suitable for matting and framing on Page’s 4” x 6” note paper. Page spent most of his Hall of Fame career as a defensive lineman for the Minnesota Vikings. He was inducted into the HoF in 1988. He played college football for Notre Dame and now is a justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
