Lot 184.  Pete Pihos (HoF) Autograph on a 1965 Richmond Rebels Football Program. A member of the College and Pro Halls of Fame, Pihos coached the Rebels, an entry in the Continental Football League. His signature on the cover is a 10. The 52-page ex-m program is for a game with the Wheeling Ironmen. Programs from the Continental League, which folded after the 1969 season, are scarce. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 185.  Bart Starr (HoF) Signed Handwritten Note on His Embossed Letterhead. Bold, large gem mint 10 autograph on an undated note thanking a fan. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 186.  Roger Staubach (HoF) Signed Typed 1982 Letter on Holloway-Staubach Corp. Letterhead. In the letter, Staubach advises the recipient on the dilemma of being active in a church and playing sports on Sunday. He notes that he is active in the Catholic Church. His signature is a 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 187.  Rare Autograph of Eddie Tryon, College Football HoFer and Pro Pioneer. An All-American at Colgate in 1925, Tryon was elected to the College Hall of Fame in 1925. In 1926, Tryon joined Red Grange in the backfield of the American Football League. In 1927, he scored six touchdowns, two on pass interceptions, with the Yankees in the fledgling NFL. His signature is mint 9 on a biographical index card. Kevin Keating authenticated the autograph. Tryon passed away in 1982. Autographs of players from the first decade of the NFL are relatively difficult to find. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 188.  Byron White Autograph – NFL Star, College HoFer and U.S. Supreme Court Justice. President John F. Kennedy appointed White to the Supreme Court in 1962. He retired from the court in 1993 and passed away in 2002. Before pursuing a career in law, White became one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. After a Hall of Fame career at the University of Colorado, he led the Pittsburgh Pirates (Steelers) and the NFL in rushing in 1938. Following a year at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, he again led the league in rushing, this time with the Detroit Lions. He played one more NFL season before entering the U.S. Navy in World War II. After the war, he attended law school, rather than continuing his football career. White’s signature is nm-m 8 to mint 9 on a 4” x 6” index card that has a picture of him with President Kennedy.
