Lot 1.  1880s H804-7 Gargling Oil Liniment Trade Card Set of 5. All five cards have had the border and advertising at the bottom trimmed away. In general, the black frame line is present, and the cards are about 2 15/15” x 3 15/16”. As trimmed, two cards are vg-ex, two vg (one has pencil scribbles on the back) and one g.

Lot 2.  1909 Boston Herald Supplement of Hall of Fame Outfielder Harry Hooper. P-f July 18 supplement with a strong image of Hooper. The supplement measures just short of 7” x 9 ½”, apparently as printed by the newspaper. It has a small hole and a scuff in the lower left and a ¼” edge tear. These premiums turn up infrequently, and this one displays well. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research, a non-profit membership organization open to all that fosters the research, preservation, and dissemination of the history and record of baseball.

Lot 3.  Nov. 9, 1909 M101-2 Sporting News Supplement of James R. McAleer. The supplement of the Washington manager measures 7 3/8” x 9 11/16”, apparently as printed, and grades vg-ex. McAleer is shown in a St. Louis Browns uniform. He managed the St. Louis team from 1902-09 and got into two games each in 1902 and 1907.

Lot 4.  Nov. 30, 1911 Sporting News Supplement of Del Gainor (Gainer) of Detroit. Gainer played first base for the Tigers in 1909 and 1911-14. Technically g-vg with a generally vg appearance.

Lot 5.  Dec. 14, 1911 M101-2 Sporting News Supplement of James J. Callahan. Technically p-f with pin holes in each of the corners, this supplement of “Nixey” Callahan measures 7 7/8” x 9 ¾” and generally displays as vg. Callahan pitched for the White Sox from 1901-03 and managed the team in 1903, 1904 and 1912-14.

Lot 6.  1911 T201 Mecca Double Folder Card of Jake Daubert and G. N. (Nap) Rucker. G-vg. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.

Lot 7.  Circa 1910s New York and Chicago Folding Postcards Featuring Ball Parks. One of 12 panels inside the New York folder reproduces the front of the “National League Baseball Park, New York” postcard showing game action, fans (one with a cane) in the grandstand and John McGraw in the upper right corner. Other images capture the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and the Statue of Liberty. Vg+ envelope with a ¼” tear, ex contents. The Chicago folder has tennis artwork on one side of the envelope, which is vg+. The West Side Grounds, home of the Cubs, and Comiskey Park, with Hall of Famer Charles Comiskey in the foreground, are shown inside. Another of the 11 panels has a golf scene. Vg-ex.

Lot 8.  6 1934-36 R318 Batter-Up Cards. Cards are #1 p, 20 p-f, 38 (blue variation p and green variation f-g), 60 f and 56 vg.

Lot 9.  1936 Goudey Wide Pen Premiums. All are Type 1: Berger f-g, Blaeholder f, Bridges vg-ex, Byrd vg, Lefty Gomez f-g, Haas g-vg, Hallahan vg, MacFayden vg+, McNair vg, Randy Moore g-vg, Moses ex, Newsom vg, Ostermueller g-vg, Pytlak f-g, Swift vg-ex and Warstler vg.

Lot 10.  9 Play Ball Cards – 3 1939 R334, 2 1940 R335 and 4 1941 R336. The 1939 cards are #21 Leonard g, 95 Wyatt vg-ex and 135 Owen g-vg, while the 1940 cards are #147 Hudson g and 176 Manush (HoF) vg. Representing 1941 are #10 Vaughan (pencil writing on back; otherwise) vg, #31 g-vg, 32 g-vg and 33 g-vg. Lot 11.  40+ 1948-54 Bowman Baseball Cards Including Stars. Most of these cards show light water damage, including stains and bowing. Sets represented are 1948, 1949, 1952, 1953 color and 1954. 1948: #17 Slaughter f-g. 1949: #14 Simmons rookie, p-f. Also, four cards free of water damage but with their borders irregularly trimmed away, #36 Reese p, 73 Cox p, 85 Mize (no name on front) p and 111 Schoendienst p. 1952: 27 first series cards incl. #5 Minoso rookie p-f, 30 Schoendienst p-f and 43 Feller f. 1953 Color: Five cards, two high numbers. 1954: Three cards incl. #62 Slaughter p and 154 Newcombe p. Cards not graded above are p to p-f overall. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.

Lot 12.  5 1949-51 Bowman Cards Including 1950 Hodges and 1951 Doby. This group comprises 1949B #21 Fain vg-ex, 1950B #112 Hodges vg, 204 Hamner rookie nm+ and 248 Jethroe rookie vg, and 1951B #151 Doby vg+.

Lot 13.  45 Different 1950 Bowman Cards Including Frisch, Six First Series. The Frisch card grades p-f. The first series cards average p. The rest have light to moderately heavy mold stains, except for #6 Feller, 23 Newcombe rookie, 35 Slaughter, 37 Appling and 217 Stengel. In addition, nine cards have had their borders trimmed away. Except for Frisch, all of these cards grade p. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research, a non-profit membership organization open to all that fosters the research, preservation, and dissemination of the history and record of baseball.

Lot 14.  110 Different 1951 Bowman Cards Including Stars, HoFers and High Numbers. All of these cards are bowed and show light to moderate mold stains and occasional water stains. Key cards are #46 Kell p, 58 Slaughter p-f, 118 Roe p-f and 282 Frisch f. The 11 high numbers, including #258 Easter rookie, and the other cards average p-f. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.

Lot 15.  Bowman Baseball Cards: 8 1951 and 2 1952. With the exception of 1951B #53 featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Lemon, all of these cards have special problems. The Lemon card, #53, grades g-vg. Four of the 1951B cards have a single number written in ink on the back. Ignoring the number, these cards grade: #19 vg, 39 g-vg, 123 vg-ex and 142 g-vg. Three other 1951 cards have had their borders trimmed away, and two of them (*) have a number added to the back: #106*, 156 and 286*, all p. The two 1952B cards also have added numbers; without the numbers, they would grade: #85 Marion vg-ex and 201 g.
