Lot 317.  2 1880s Harpers Baseball Woodcuts + a Bonus. 1. The Chicago Base-Ball Club. Oct. 14, 1882 6 ½” x 10 ½” from page 652. The Chicago team won the National League title in 1882. The half page picture shows Anson, Kelly, Clarkson, Billy Sunday and 7 others. Ex+. 2. Two Popular Players of the St. Louis Base-Ball Team. Oct. 27, 1888 8 ½” x 10 ½” from page 820. Quarter page drawings of Comiskey and Latham are featured. Ex-m. The bonus includes 2 additional woodcuts. “A Game of Base-Ball in the Thirteenth Regiment Armory, Brooklyn, Between Members of the Regiment – Striker Out” 7 ¼” x 10 ¼” ex and “The Philadelphia Cricket Team” 7” x 10 ¼” vg. These woodcuts make for beautiful display pieces.

Lot 629.  Display “Dish” Commemora-ting the 1957 Milwaukee Braves’ World Series Title. The MacNeill and Moore, 7 ½” x 5 ½” x 1” deep dish, reproduces the front page of the 10/11/57 Milwaukee Sentinel and is made to hang on the wall or displayed on a shelf. The headline reads “Hail to Our Braves Best in the World!” The dish is cream-colored with gold around the rim. MacNeill and Moore was a high-end clothier in Milwaukee. Nm-m.

Lot 630.  Display “Dish” Celebrating the 1957 Milwaukee Braves’ N.L. Pennant. MacNeill and Moore (a high-end Milwaukee clothier) captured the Braves’ success in this dish, which is 7 ½” x 5 ½” x 1” deep, by reproducing the front page of the 9/24/57 Milwaukee Sentinel and it can be displayed on the wall or on a shelf. The headline reads “Bring on the Yankees We’re the Champs!” The dish is cream-colored with gold around the rim. Nm-m.

Lot 631.  Philadelphia A’s 1941 Matchbook Schedule, 1940s American Nut &Chocolate Pin. The schedule printed on the inside of the matchbook cover that features the elephant mascot on its front is vg. The pin is ex-m.

Lot 632.  1942 World Series Pen and Pencil Set. The 1942 World Series featured the defending champion New York Yankees vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. The Yankees won the first game of the series. It was not an omen of things to come as the Cardinals captured the Series by winning the next four games in a row. This pen and pencil set commemorates that series. It is remarkable. Both fountain pen and pencil are in the shape of a bat and each appears to be unused. MINT! Both feature an artists rendering of a pennant in navy blue at the barrel that reads “YANKEES 1942 Cardinals.” At the center of each bat where the trademark is typically found, the words “WORLD SERIES” appear inside a red oval. The set comes inside its original mailing box.

Lot 633.  Late 1940s-Early 1950s Wilson Gloves Ad with Ted Williams, Bob Feller. This 8 ½” x 11” point of purchase header-style ad on heavy paper stock features Williams, Feller and a Little Leaguer. According to the text, “From Little League…to Big League Stars, Wilson Is Top Choice!”

Lot 634.  Gil Hodges Model Baseball Glove. Early 1950s Revelation first baseman glove made in the USA is in nm condition and has –GC1343- stamped on the pocket-side of the glove. Hodge remains one of the better players not in the Hall of Fame.

Lot 635.  1950s Gil Hodges Adirondack Store Model Bat + a Bonus. This 31” 302JG Little League model has Hodges’ name in script on the barrel and, apparently as manufactured, a material on the handle to improve the batter’s grip. The bat shows substantial use; markings remain readable. The bonus is a 28” Tom Herr Little League model bat.

Lot 636.  Chesterfield Ad Featuring Mel Ott and Bill Dickey. This 9 ½” x 12 ¼” color ad is mounted on hardboard. Vg.

Lot 637.  1949 Fort Pitt Beer Baseball-Football Tin “Scoreboard.” This 23 ½” x 11 3/8” tin scoreboard, made for use in taverns, contains space for recording scores, inning by inning or quarter by quarter. It is red, white and black with one side for baseball scores and the other for football or basketball scores. Clean sign on the football-basketball side that shows some use on the baseball side. It displays very nicely.

Lot 638.  1950s-Early 1960s Advertising for Spalding Baseball Products. Large 17” x 20” poster with a 12” x 4” image of A.G. Spalding pictures Spalding baseballs used by the majors, as well as Babe Ruth, Little and Pony Leagues. Stains along the bottom edge which could be matted out. Vg-ex.

Lot 639.  Los Angeles Dodgers Bobbin Head on a Green Base. Early 60s ceramic boy’s head bobber. This LA Dodgers, green base bobbin head stands approximately 7 ¾” tall x 2 ½” wide. There are some chips on the blue LA cap, neck and along the lower part of the D and the line under “Dodgers.” The bobber is holding a bat and displays well.
Minimum Bid $50.


Lot 640.  8 Late 1950s to Early 1960s 3 ½” x 8 ½” Baseball Team Mini-Pennants. The pennants as manufactured are strung together by a felt strip that measures approximately ½” x 44”. Team names and logos appear on solid colored backgrounds that vary from one pennant to the next. The featured teams are: Cincinnati Redlegs, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Braves. Vg with pinholes at the tip of each pennant. The tip of the Redlegs pennant is torn away.

Lot 641.  1950s Baseball Fans to Cool a Pirate and Philly “Fan.” Two ex-m Japanese fans for PA baseball team enthusiasts. You can start off in eastern PA, keep cool at a Philly’s game with your Philly fan. Drive 300 + miles west and keep cool with your Pirates’ fan at a Pirates game. The open 15” fans are printed in red, blue and black.
