Lot 341.  1997 New York Knicks-Boston Celtics Throwback Weekend Poster Signed by 14. The autographs of nine Hall of Fame members are on this 12.75” x 17.75” poster: Bill Sharman, Ed Macauley, Willis Reed, Tom Heinsohn, Dave DeBusschere, Bernard King, Jerry Lucas, Satch (Sanders) and Harry Gallatin. The other signatures are by Jo Jo White, Ernie Grunfeld, Cal Ramsey and two others. The autographs, authenticated by Kevin Keating, are generally nm-m 8 or better.

Lot 342.  Bob Cousy 1958 Promotional Display for His “Pro 14” Basketball Shoes by Randy. Cousy was one of the best point guards in NBA history. He was the league’s MVP in 1957, was selected for 13 All-Star Games and played on six Boston Celtics championship teams. One side of the 17.5” x 20” thin-plastic display has an image of Cousy. The reverse presents his “Basic Basketball Rules.” Vg+ to ex with some small scuffs and very small tears on the front and a 1” tear on the back. Unusual and uncommon.

Lot 343.  1969-70 Topps Basketball #12 Gus Johnson Rookie Beckett Vintage-Graded NM-MT+ 8.5. A five-time All-Star, Johnson was one of the first forwards to play often above the rim.

Lot 344.  1969-70 Topps #43 Bill Bradley Beckett Vintage-Graded NEAR MINT 7. Looks as if it could grade higher.

Lot 345.  3 1980s Fleer Michael Jordan Cards Graded by Beckett. Fleer Sticker #8 from 1986-87 received a Beckett grade of EX-MT 6. Both of the other cards are graded NM-MT 8 – 1987-88 #59 and 1989-90 #17.

Lot 346.  106 Basketball Cards: 1986-87 Fleer, 1991 Classic Draft Picks Premier Edition Set, Etc. The 50-card set from Classic is unopened. It includes such future stars as Larry Johnson and Dikembe Mutombo. The 1986-87 Fleer cards are #33-38 including Gervin and Gilmore and #99-104 including Sikma. Also, sticker #3, Dantley. Fourteen 1991-92 Fleer cards are present, including #29 Jordan, 97 Divac and 136 Ewing. There are 15 cards from Topps’ 1992-93 regular issue including #57 McHale, 66 Ewing and 105 Olajuwon, and 15 1992-93 Stadium Club, including #174 Cartwright and 194 Bi rd. Nm to nm-m.

Lot 348.  PSA NM-MT and MINT Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony Cards. A total of seven cards. PSA graded 1996 Topps Kobe Bryant rookie #138 MINT 9. James is the subject of four rookie cards: 2003 Upper Deck Top Prospects #3, NM-MT 8, and three 2003 Upper Deck Victory #101, one MINT 9 and two NM-MT 8. Anthony’s card, also from the Victory set, is #103 and graded NM-MT 8. These cards are accompanied by 1972-73 Topps #144 Pat Riley graded NM 7 by PSA.

Lot 349.  LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony Rookie Cards Beckett-Graded NM-MT+ or Better. James’ 2003-04 Upper Deck Top Prospects card, #P3, has been graded GEM MINT 9.5 by Beckett. His 2003-04 Upper Deck Victory card, #101, received a grade of NM-MT+ 8.5. Anthony’s card, #103 from the same issue, is graded MINT 9.

Lot 350.  Walt Frazier Autographed Autobiography. Frazier placed a large nm-m 8 autograph on the flyleaf of a stated first edition of his book “Walt Frazier: One Magic Season and a Basketball Life.” Frazier wrote the book, published in 1988, with Neil Offen. Outstanding at point guard, Frazier led the New York Knicks to their only NBA championships, in 1970 and 1973. Nicknamed “Clyde,” he scored 19.3 points per game for the Knicks and played in seven NBA All-Star Games. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. He serves now as a color commentator on Knicks’ TV broadcasts. Frazier signed his name and added “Clyde” below. The signature is personalized and dated 2-9-93. The book is ex in a vg+ to ex dust jacket. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 351.  John Wooden Signed Copy of “The Wizard of Westwood.” Dwight Chapin and Jeff Prugh wrote the 1973 biography of Wooden, the revered UCLA basketball coach. Regarded by many sports observes as the greatest athletic coach of all-time, he is in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach. He won an NCAA championship as a player, and a record 10 as a coach. He passed away in 2010. His signature is gem mint 10 on the first title page of the book, which is nm in an ex dust jacket. The signature is personalized, and above it he wrote, “There are some untruths, some complimentary, in this book that embarrass me.” Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 352.  7 Basketball Autographs, a Harlem Astronauts Program and Other Memorabilia. Four of the signers played in the NBA: Tony Dumas, Anthony Goldwire, Doneyell Marshall and Brooks Thompson. Their autographs are ex-m 6 and better (strong on dark backgrounds) on 1994 Signature Rookies cards. Other cards are signed by Brian Reese (1994 Classic 4Sport), Deon Thomas (1995 Classic Superior Pix) and Scotty Thurman (1995 Signature Rookies). Ex-m 6 and better. A star at North Carolina, Reese is an assistant at Monmouth. Thomas left Illinois as the university’s all-time leading scorer. He played professionally in Europe and Israel. Thurman also played in Europe. Other items are a 1950s-60s Harlem Astronauts program, staples removed, vg; a Greatest Sports Legends VHS of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a Charlotte Hornets “stinger” foam giveaway. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 353.  Photos Signed by Basketball Coaches – Auriemma, Brownell, Calipari, Gottfried, Purnell. The autographs are nm-m 8 and better on 8” x 10” color photos. Kevin Keating authenticated them. A member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, Geno Auriemma coaches the women’s team at the University of Connecticut. His teams have won eight national championships. He also coached the U.S. women’s team to a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Brad Brownell has been the head coach of the Clemson men’s team since 2010. John Calipari led Kentucky to the 2011-12 NCAA championship, the university’s eighth. The signatures of Auriemma, Brownell and Calipari are personalized. It appears that an effort was made to remove the inscription from Calipari’s photo. Mark Gottfried was head coach at Alabama before moving to North Carolina State in 2011. Oliver Purnell became the head coach at DePaul in 2010.
