Lot 22. 2 1888 N135 Duke Talk of the Diamond Cards. These novelty cards feature colorful baseball artwork. “A Heavy Batter” has damage to approximately one-half of the back. The front is vg-ex. “Out” has stains on the back; all type is present and readable. F-g card with a vg front.

Lot 23. Scarce 1889-90 N136 Duke “Terrors of American” Large Card – Out on First! This card is one of eight in the 50-card set that has a baseball theme. The full title is “Out on first! How’s that umpire?” The 2 ½” x 4 3/16” card promotes Duke’s Honest Long Cut brand. Knapp & Co. provided the lithography. The back exhibits light to moderate soiling. Vg-ex card with an ex-m front. We have two other “Terrors” cards below.

Advertising Duke’s Honest Long Cut brand, this 2 ½” x 4 3/16” card is one of eight of the 50-card set with a baseball theme. Including this card, we have three examples in this auction. Lot 27. Unusual Multi-Color Card from the Circa 1905-09 PC792 Embossed Baseball Postcard Set. Typically, these cards are a single color. This example has shades of blue, gray, brown, beige and green. It shows a runner sliding into a base as a fielder leaps and catches the ball. The untitled postcard has an eagle on the undivided back and was postmarked in 1907. Vg-ex.

Lot 28. 2 Circa 1905-09 PC792 Embossed Baseball Postcards. From a set of six, one card shows a batter beginning his swing. It has three pin holes at the top and two on the bottom; otherwise, g-vg. The other, with a batter, catcher and umpire and another player in the background, is f-g. These untitled cards have an eagle on the back. One has a signature written on the front and both have messages on the back along with a postmark. One back is divided (batter), and one is not.

Lot 31. 2 1909-11 T206 Cards – Ed Abbaticchio and Hobe Ferris. The Abbaticchio card, which has a Piedmont 350-460 back grades vg+. The Ferris card, with a Piedmont 150 back, is trimmed and has an vg-ex appearance as trimmed. Both backs are clean.

Lot 34. 4 1910-11 S74 White Silks – Bates, McConnell, Meyers and Overall. Each silk is clean and free of stains. The silk of Overall is missing part of the fringe in the lower right. The silks of Bates, McConnell and Meyers grade vg-ex, and Overall, vg. All of the backs are clean, and these silks are free of stains.
