Lot 349.  2 1950 Programs for Games Between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia’s Whiz Kids. Both Pittsburgh programs are scored, one for a June 11 game won by the Pirates, 5-4 in 12 innings, and the other by the Phils, 4-2. The earlier program has the results added in pencil to the cover and otherwise is vg-ex. The August program is f-g with a chipped corner on the front cover and approximately 15 percent of the back cover missing. The interior is complete. Each program has separate full-page photos Ralph Kiner and Bing Crosby.

Lot 354.  1971 NLCS Giants at Pirates Program and Ticket Stub. Pittsburgh won the series in four games and went on to defeat Baltimore in the World Series. The 40-page program is scored in pencil for the deciding game. Vg-ex. The ticket stub, composed of two sections, is for Game 3. Ex.

Lot 356.  Pittsburgh Pirates 1975 NLCS Program, Regular-Season Programs, Yearbooks, Etc. Fourteen publications. The Pirates faced Cincinnati in the NLCS game. Ex-m+. The yearbooks both are from the 1977 season; one is ex+, and the other, vg-ex. A media guide represents the 1983 season; vg-ex. Two publications were not issued by the Pirates: the June 24, 1963 “Sports Illustrated” with Roy Face on the cover, ex, and the 1988 Baseball Hall of Fame yearbook, which has inductee Willie Stargell on the cover, ex. There are seven regular-season programs: 1975 vs. San Francisco, vg-ex; 1978 vs. Mets, Dave Parker cover, ex; 1982 vs. Reds, ex-m; 1990 vs. Mets, vg-ex; 1991(2) ex and 2002 spring training, g, scored for a game with the Phils and including a ticket stub. A 1992 Pirates “Fun & Entertainment Guide” is also included.

Lot 357.  Pittsburgh Pirates Primarily 1970s Yerabooks, NLCS Programs and Scorebooks. Twenty-eight publications, including yearbooks for 1975, 1976 (writing on front cover), 1977, 1978 (2) and 1981. These yearbooks average ex. The NLCS programs are for series with Cincinnati in 1975 and 1979. Led by Chuck Tanner, the 1979 Pirates won their last World Series championship. Nm. The regular-season programs are for: 1971 vs. Philadelphia (scored); 1975 (2) vs. New York and Montreal; 1977 vs. Chicago; 1978 (3) vs. Phils, Dodgers and Expos; 1978 (2) vs. Phils; 1980 (3), two different covers, vs. Phils; 1982 vs. Reds; 1983 vs. Cards (scored); 1984 (2) vs. Cubs, one scored; 1985 vs. Reds and 1988 (Bonds cover) vs. Phils. Except for 1972, 1982 and 1983, these programs are almost all nm or better. Also included are a 1984 Pirates calendar and a 1995 “Build-It-Yourself Forbes Field” softcover book.

Lot 358.  5 Books on Pittsburgh Baseball: the Pirates, the Waners, Clemente and the Negro Leagues. Two of these books are biograpical: In “Remember Roberto,” author Jim O’Brien recounts stories of “Clemente Recalled by Teammates, Family, Friends and Fans.” The 1994 first printing hardback is inscribed (personalized) by O’Brien on the inside of the flyleaf. The book is ex-m in a vg+ to ex dust jacket. Paul and Lloyd Waner are the subjects of “Big and Little Poison,” a 2003 softcover by Clifton Blue Parker, ex. Pittsburgh native John McCollister wrote two books on the Pirates: “Tales from the Pirates Dugout: a Collection of the Greatest Pirates Ever Told,” 2003, and “Tales from the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates: Remebering ‘The Fam-A-Lee’,” 2005. Both books are ex-m+, and the dust jackets are ex. Baseball, including the Negro Leagues, and other sports receive coverage in Rob Ruck’s “Sandlot Seasons: Sport in Black Pittsburgh,” 1987 apparent first edition, nm book and dust jacket.
