Lot 193.  Collection of Famous Slugger Bat Banks, Mini Bats and Commemorative Baseballs. More than 100 individual items make up this collection, which includes three complete Louisville Slugger “Famous Slugger Autographs” Baseball Bat Banks. Each bank holds 10 plastic bats. In one bank, the bats represent 10 National League teams, ex-m. In the two other banks, the bats are player models for Mantle, Clemente, Bench, Fosse, Yaz, Oliva, F. Robinson, Aaron, Rose and Kessinger. One is nm with yellow bats, and the other, ex with a mix of white and natural bats. A fourth bank has bats for Carew, Parker, Madlock, R. Jackson, Garvey and Lynn; four bats are missing, ex. There are 32 commemorative or facsimile baseballs. Fotoball produced colorful baseballs commemorating or featuring Wheaties All-Stars (Mark McGwire, Ken Griffey Jr., Chuck Knoblauch), McGwire’s 1998 home run performance (Making History), Sammy Sosa’s 66 home runs (scuff on Sosa’s image as manufactured), Jose Canseco, the Royals, the Giants’ 40 years in San Francisco, the Indians (brief history on one panel), the Orioles (gold ball with raised logo) and 1998 All-Star Game hosted by the Rockies. Franklin produced a Dodgers ball (1995), a Bobby Bonds signature series ball and a Stamp Fun Stadium Baseball – Wrigley Field. Other subjects are the Marlins’ inaugural year (1993), the 1993 All-Star Game and FanFest in Baltimore and Nolan Ryan’s 5,000th strikeout (facsimile signature). Also, an ONL Coleman ball with the Dodgers’ logo, a Spinneybeck Cooperstown Collection Red Sox ball, a 1988 Sports Products Dodgers logo ball with “Brooklyn” written on, a 1996 Caring Team 5th Anniversary ball with facsimile signature of Barry Larkin and Cecil Fielder, a red ball with gold stitching and a Babe Ruth Shrine plastic base, three Official League balls, a heavily used ball with no pre-printed areas showing, a Nature Company ball with frogs, a heavily decorated ball for the Henry Ford Museum and facsimile-signed balls for the Braves (2 diff.), Reds and Yankees. Almost all of these 32 balls are nm or better. Fifteen mini bats 12”-18” long represent George Brett, the Louisville Slugger Museum (2); Cooperstown, the Baseball HoF or both (4 diff.), Carolina Tar Heels, Babe Ruth Birthplace (Baltimore), LA Dodgers (and Sports Illustrated), the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, “Put Ron Carmicle to Bat for ABC in 1983” (2), the 1996 All-Star Game (Phils, 14” peppermill bat) and an apparent fiesta. There are four 9” bats, one of each, red, white, blue and natural. Twenty-one baseball bat pens, six of them made of wood, promote Gallaudet U (3), the HoF, the Sporting News (2), Babe Ruth (2), TCMA, LA Dodgers (2), Chase Bank (4), Robin Yount, Johnny Bench, the St. Louis Sports HoF, Coca-Cola and Southwest Airlines. Nm. Finally, there are nine key chains for Hillerich & Bradsby (2), the LA Dodgers, Pete Rose (5) and Steve Garvey (2). They average nm. Fun collection with good break-up value. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.

Lot 194.  5 Unused ONL Baseballs – 3 Bobby Brown, 2 Giamatti. The Brown baseballs show light, light-moderate and moderate toning, while one Giamatti ball has a couple of stray marks, and the other exhibits light-moderate toning. All in their original boxes.

Lot 195.  St. Louis Cardinals Memorabilia – Pennant, T-Shirt, Programs. The collection consists of a 1985 World Champions T-shirt (large, nm-m), a full-sized 1985 World Champions pennant with players’ names inside a banner (ex-m+ with several pin holes) and one spring training scorecard each for 1985, 1986 and 1987 (nm, owner’s name on the cover of 1987).

Lot 196.  2 1970s Baseball Games – 1971 Sports Illustrated and 1976 Strat-O-Matic. Both games have been used, and while contents are extensive, it is unclear whether they are complete. The Strat-O-Matic box is nm and displays extremely well. The Sports Illustrated box has tape in several locations on the lid.

Lot 197.  LA Dodgers Collection – 1961 Union Oil Booklets Partial Set, Tickets, PCs, Etc. Seventeen of the 24 Union Oil “Dodger Family” booklets are present: Alston, Craig, Tommy Davis, Willie Davis, Drysdale, Fairly, Gilliam, Howard, Koufax, Larker, Moon, Neal, Perranoski, Larry Sherry, Norm Sherry, Snider and Wills. Vg-ex to ex overall. There also is a 1960 “Dodger Family” booklet featuring Koufax. Vg. Full phantom tickets are offered for the 1991 NLCS and the 1991 World Series, all nm-m. They are accompanied by a 2001 ticket and stub picturing Shawn Green, nm, and a ticket for a 2003 game with the Brewers; Green again is shown, nm-m. Green is the subject of a center-fold poster in the 2000 Dodgers Magazine, nm. Nine team-issued 1960s-70s postcards are in the collection: Alston, Buckner, Fairly, Alan Foster, Lou Johnson, Mike Marshall, Osteen, Sizemore and Torborg. Ex-m+ to nm+ overall. There also is a 1960 team-issued b&w photo of James Gilliam vg-ex and a Jay Publishing photo, apparently from 1960, of Gil Hodges vg. Excellent collection of 36 items!

Lot 204.  Reds Memorabilia Collection – Vintage Bank, Rose Ashtray, Mini-Bats, Etc. This collection consists of more than 85 individual items. Among the highlights are a circa 1940s Reds baseball bank from Mobil featuring Pegasus, the winged horse in red (ex with some wear on the blue on the baseball’s stitches and a couple of scuffs on the Reds’ logo), an nm ashtray from Pete Rose’s Restaurant and a nice vg-ex 1950s Reds popcorn megaphone with the team mascot. Also: 1971-72 Reds basketball team program with Rose as the coach on the cover, vg-ex. Reds-Letter newsletter, 22 issues, 1973-78, average vg-ex. Reds Vue magazine, 6 issues, 4 different, 1979 and 1981, ex+. 1977 Dads Root Beer laminated placemats set of three: Eastwick, Foster and Fryman; Geronimo, Griffey and Rose, and Concepcion, Driessen and Morgan, nm. Lot 206.  Baltimore Orioles Publications, Autographs and Commemorative Baseballs. The signatures – of Cal Ripken and Cal Ripken Jr. – are on the cover of James H. Bready’s 1984 oversized softcover book, The Home Team: Baltimore Baseball. Kevin Keating authenticated the autographs, which grade nm-7 to nm-m 8. The covers and about 30 pages show light to moderate mold damage. One of the more interesting publications is James E. Fredlund’s self-published, photocopied Baltimore Orioles 1892-99. In more than 120 pages, Fredlund provides statistics on the 19th century National League Orioles. There is one other book, This Date in Baltimore Orioles & St. Louis Browns History by John C. Hawkins, 1983 paperback, vg-ex. This collection includes one yearbook, the 1974 edition, vg+. The newest of the programs is from The First Opening Day, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, April 6, 1992, ex-m to nm. Other programs range from 1975-2002. There also is a scorecard for a 1966 Dodgers-Orioles World Series game, g-vg. The programs are 1975 vs. Boston, ex+; 1978 vs. Detroit, scored, g+; 1979 vs. Chicago (anniversary design), vg, and vs. Red Sox, ex-m, and Tigers (3) scored, one f, one g, one vg-ex; 1980 vs. Red Sox, p-f, water damage; 1992 vs. Royals, scored, vg-ex; 1993 (2), one vg+ and one nm; 1994 (2), ex, and 2002 nm-m. Two media guides are present, for the 1979 World Series with Pittsburgh, and for the 1998 season, both ex+. Also: a program from the 1988 MCI Baseball Classic, Mets vs. Orioles, ex; 1984 and 1985 Baltimore Sun Orioles publications, ex; an April 3, 1994 issue of Outside Pitch, ex, and a 1994 Sesame Street program with an Orioles wrapper, ex-m+. Nine baseballs, all nm or better and most from Fotoball, commemorate: Ripken’s career, Ripken’s 2131 consecutive game streak, Brady Anderson’s 1996 season, Earl Weaver’s Hall of Fame induction, the 1993 All-Star Game (two different) and the Orioles’ membership in the American League. Two are logo balls, including one with a raised logo. There also is a facsimile team ball with Ripken Jr. on a sweet spot. Also: an Orioles bumper sticker, 12 stickers (four different, 3 ¼” x 3 ¼” up to 4” x 5 ½”) with an Orioles logo and an Orioles matchbook. And two Coke 8-ounce bottles commemorating Ripken’s 1995 record, three Pepsi collector cans, two Coke cans for the 1993 All-Star Game and two beer cans marking the closing of Memorial Stadium. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.
