Lot 98.  Bob Feller Signed Hall of Fame Black & White Plaque Postcard. Feller often is overlooked in discussions of the game’s greats. Ignoring him, however, requires overlooking the fact that he missed three full seasons and most of another to World War II – in the prime of his career. In the five seasons on both sides of his WWII absence, Feller averaged 24+ wins and 262 strikeouts. Another 95 or so wins and 1,000 strikeouts would put him in the top 7 or 8 all-time among pitchers. Then, the discussion might be a bit different. Feller’s signature is a 9-10 at the bottom of the postcard. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.
Winning Bid $15.

Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.
Winning Bid $75.

Lot 100.  B&W Hall of Fame Plaque Postcard Signed by Right Fielder “Sam” Rice. A .322 hitter lifetime, Rice spent all but the final year of his 20-season career with Washington. He helped the Senators to win the World Championship in 1924 and two additional A.L. pennants. His autograph over his image on the plaque grades mint 9 to gem mint 10. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. The card has pieces of tape, for no apparent reason, on the back. Rice was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1963. He died in 1974. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.
Winning Bid $75.

Lot 101.  Edd J Roush Autographs (2) on a B&W Hall of Fame Plaque Postcard. A center fielder primarily for the Reds and Giants, Roush batted .323 over an 18-season career and was elected to the HoF in 1962. He passed away in 1988. His signatures are bold 10s on both the front and back of the card. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.

In a 20-season career at shortstop with the Chicago White Sox, Appling collected 2,749 hits, batted .310 and twice led the A.L. in hitting. He batted .388 in 1936. Appling entered the Hall of Fame in 1964. He died in 1991. Three of his signatures are 10s at the top of the postcards. Pen problems yielded a vg 3 to vg-ex 4 on the other. Authenticated by Kevin Keating. Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Society for American Baseball Research.
Winning Bid $25.
