Lot 580.  5 Pittsburgh Pirates Programs, 1949-53. The 1949 program is for a game late in the season with St. Louis. Additional players are penciled in on the scorecard, which is partially scored. Ralph Kiner is one of the players profiled in the 32 page program. G-vg with the cover detached. 1951 vs. St. Louis, additional players added to scorecard in pencil, Branch Rickey and Kiner profiled, ex with some extraneous writing. 1952, two different, both vs. Chicago, one neatly scored in pencil and vg-ex and the other partly scored and g+ to vg. Joe Garagiola is pictured in one. 1953 vs. Philadelphia, scored, ex. MB $20.

Lot 583.  1954 Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training Roster from Fort Pierce, FL. The roster lists Pirates favorites such as Elroy Face, Vernon Law and Bob Friend, but the presence of Curt Roberts and Sam Jethroe makes is especially interesting. Roberts became the Pirates’ first African-American player in 1954, and Jethroe appeared in two games. The fold-out creates four pages of spring training particulars with statistics. The statue of Honus Wagner on the cover makes this roster all the better. Nice, stiff ex+ copy.

Lot 591.  1969 Publication on the History of Forbes Field, Construction Photos. The 32-page magazine-format publication, which is printed in brown, is titled Forbes Field 60th Birthday 1909-1969: Pittsburgh Pirates Picture Album. It is loaded with historic photos of Pirates players and teams. Two 8” x 10” reproduction sepia photos show aspects of the historic ballpark’s construction, including one horse-drawn vehicle.

Lot 598.  1970 Pittsburgh Pirates Scorebook Signed by Stargell, Oliver, Ellis, Veale, Others. Willie Stargell and Joe Gibbon signed the front cover. Gibbon signed again on the back, where he was joined by Dock Ellis, Bob Veale, Bob Robertson, Al Oliver, M Sanguillen and John Jeter. Vg scorebook for a game with St. Louis. The owner’s name is on the front, and another name on the back. The signatures on the back are nm 7s and nm-m 8s. The Stargell and Gibbon autographs are over type on the front and are ex.
