Lot 505.  Cleveland Indians 1949 Sketch Book (Yearbook), 1961 Scorecard. Published on the heels of Cleveland’s 4-2 World Series win over the Boston Braves, this yearbook contains profiles of each player including Satchell Paige and Larry Doby, as well as Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Early Wynn, Al Rosen, Lou Boudreau, Mike Garcia, Joe Gordon, Mickey Vernon and John Berardino. Ex with some soiling and stains on the cover. The scorecard is for a game with Detroit, vg+ to ex.

Lot 506.  Boston Braves 1950 Program, 2 Issues from 1947 of the Braves Bulletin. The unscored program is for a game with the New York Giants. Twelve pages plus the covers and an article inside titled “Sain and Spahn Aim to Better Mound Performances.” Both are pictured. The front cover, which is detached, features outstanding graphics. Vg contents. The March 1947 Bulletin is g-vg, and the June issue, ex. Each has four pages. The March issue includes the team roster and pictures Spahn, Sain, Tommy Holmes, Mort Cooper and 12 others. There also is a team photo that includes Billy Southworth.

Lot 507.  5 1950s-60s Milwaukee Braves Yearbooks. In 1953, the Braves became the first major league franchise to relocate in more than 50 years, bringing baseball excitement to the Upper Midwest. Led by a young Henry Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Lew Burdette and Warren Spahn, they finished lower than second only once between 1953 and 1960. 1. 1956 yearbook, g-vg. 2. 1960, vg-ex. 3. 1961, first edition, ex+ to ex-m. 4. 1962, vg-ex. 5. 1965, smaller format yearbook, marks the Braves’ last season in Milwaukee, ex. These five yearbooks document more than one-third of the period that the Braves called Milwaukee home.

Lot 508.  1953 Miami Sun Sox Program, a Dodgers-Affiliated Minor League. Forty-eight page program pictures Pepper Martin as manager of the Ft. Lauderdale team. Uncommon, nicely illustrated and vg.

Lot 509.  1958 St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants Program. Gorgeous program with two small tears along the bottom edge; otherwise, ex-m with the St. Louis lineup partially filled in. The names in the lineup seem to date the scorecard for a Sept. 21 game won by the Giants, 7-4. Mays and Musial are on the rosters.

Lot 510.  1958, 1959 Cleveland Indians Media Guides, 1956 Schedule, 1972 Ticket Offer. Rocky Colavito is on the cover of the 1959 guide, vg, and Frank (Trader) Lane, who sent Colavito packing, shares the 1958 cover with manager Bobby Bragan, ex with some roster notations. The 1956 American League schedule, produced by Spalding, has the stamp of a Wooster, Ohio, drug store on the back. Nm. The ticket order form comes with a roster on Indians letterhead and an unused “Back of the Warpath” decal with the Indian mascot. Hard-to-come-by Indians collection.

Lot 511.  5 1960s Minnesota Twins Yearbooks with HoFers Killebrew and Carew. 1. The 1962 yearbook focuses on the team’s move to Minnesota the previous year. Vg-ex with tape neatly applied around the edges; ex+ contents. 2. 1963, ex with a corner stub. Ex-m appearance. 3. 1965 yearbook. These Twins won the AL pennant with the help of league MVP Zoilo Versailles, ex-m. 4. 1968, ex to ex+. 5. 1969, ex+. This yearbook marks the arrival of Billy Martin, who led the team to the AL West title.

Lot 512.  Scarce 1961 Washington Senators Inaugural Game Program, 1971 Media Guide. A year after the old Washington Senators left DC to become the Minnesota Twins, MLB allowed two expansion teams, including the new Washington Senators. This incarnation of the Senators remained through the 1971 season, when the team headed off to become the Texas Rangers. The key to this memorabilia pair is the program for the new team’s first game on April 10 at Griffith Stadium. The visiting White Sox won, 4-3. Three Senators are pictured in the program, Dick Donovan, Willie Tasby and Gene Woodling (in an ad). Vg-ex. The 1971 media guide marks the end of the Senators’ tenure in DC. Ted Williams is pictured as the team’s vice president and manager; 52 pages and ex-m.

Lot 513.  1963 St. Louis at New York Mets Opening Day Program. Playing at the Polo Grounds for a final year, the Mets lost their home opener to the Cardinals, 7-0. They would mostly keep on losing, concluding the season with 111 losses and only 51 wins. The program is scored in pen. Stan Musial played for the Cards, and Duke Snider for the Mets. Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Willie Mays and Musial are pictured in the program. Vg with a vertical fold; displays better.

Lot 514.  1964 Milwaukee Braves at Houston Colt .45s Home Opener Program. The Braves won this April 16 program, 6-5. Nellie Fox, Jim Wynn and Pete Runnels are pictured in the 48-page program, which pays tribute to Jim Umbricht, who passed away just days before the season’s start. Vg+ and neatly scored with minor added writing.

Lot 515.  11 1960s-70s Major League Yearbooks, 4 Programs. The yearbooks: 1. 1965 “Los Angeles” Angels, the year they became the “California” Angels in Anaheim, ex. Joe Adcock, Vic Power and Jimmy Piersall were on the team. 2. 1971 Phillies, inaugural season at Veterans Stadium, vg+ to ex. 3. 1972 Pirates, Clemente and Stargell on the cover, ex. 4-5. 1972 and 1973 Royals, ex-m. 6. 1974 Braves, Hank Aaron-Babe Ruth cover, ex. 7-8. 1974 and 1979 Tigers, ex. Whitaker and Trammell are on the 1979 cover. 9. 1979 Padres, Winfield Cover, ex. 10-11. The Oakland programs double as yearbooks. Two different from 1972, one vg+ to ex, one ex. Lot 516.  St. Louis Cardinals Media Guides for 1966, 1968. In 1966, the Cardinals moved into the new Busch Stadium. In 1968, they hosted the All-Star game and played for the World Championship. These teams featured such players as Gibson, Carlton, Cepeda, Brock and Maris, and Schoendienst as manager. Each guide has 36 pages; 1966 is vg+ to ex, and 1968, ex.

Lot 517.  4 American League 1960s Media Guides: Angels, Orioles, A’s, Tigers. 1. Baltimore Orioles 1966. Hank Bauer managed the Orioles to their first World Series appearance and title. Ex. 2. Detroit Tigers 1966. Great cover artwork. Nm. 3. California Angels 1966. The “Los Angeles Angels” became the “California Angels” as the team moved to Anaheim, ex. 4. Oakland A’s 1968. The team’s first season in Oakland. Catfish Hunter pitched the first perfect game in the A.L. since 1922. G-vg, some notations inside. A collection of important guides.

Lot 518.  1969 National League Championship Series New York at Atlanta Program. This program, from the first year of the NLCS, is gorgeous, unscored and desirable. The inside pages picture the Braves players and members of the Amazin’ Mets, who swept the NLCS in three straight and went on to win the World Series against the Baltimore Orioles in five games. Ex-m.
