Lot 132.  1930s-40s Brooklyn Dodgers Pennant. This 8” x 25 ½” pennant is unlike any we have ever seen. Players are posed on the field beneath a grandstand that reads “EBBETS FIELD.” “Dodgers” appears in white on the blue felt background. Some of the colors are faded, and there is some staining. Incredibly rare. MB $100. 133. 1940s Philadelphia Athletics Pennant with a U.S. Naval Academy “Guest” Ribbon. Full-sized pennant with the elephant mascot and “Athletics” in white on a blue field. The tip is clipped; otherwise, vg. Attached is a plain blue button with a blue on white ribbon that says “U.S.N.A. Guest.” MB $75. 134. Lot 134.  Scarce 1948 Cleveland Indians “American League Champions” Pennant. Under the leadership of Lou Boudreau, these Indians also became World Champions by defeating the Boston Braves in the World Series. Red on white 8 ¼” x 26” pennant with a stain at the left. Vg.

Lot 136.  Scarce 1950s Kansas City Athletics Full-Sized Pennant. Wonderful pennant on a gray field featuring the elephant mascot. Tack holes along the gold stripe and near the tip, which shows some fraying. Displays as ex.

Lot 137.  Early 1950s New York Giants Pennant. This 8 ¼” x 25 ½” pennant features bold colors on a black field, minor writing on the baseball, writing on the back, a tack hole and a tip that is clipped.

Lot 138.  Uncommon Braves 1953 Pennant – Their First Season in Milwaukee. At the conclusion of the 1952 season, the Braves moved from Boston to the Wisconsin city and remained there until 1965. The 8 ½” x 25 ½” pennant has wrinkles, stains along the white stripe and fraying along the edges. Displays decently and is desirable for its scarcity and historical significance.

Lot 139.  1957-60 Washington Senators Pennant. White on red vg 8 ½” x 25 ½” example. The central area of the pennant displays very well.

Lot 140.  Full-Sized 1957-60 Washington Senators Pennant. The Senator mascot is about to deliver a pitch in this delightful pennant, which features predominantly white letter and images on a blue field. Quality ex pennant.

Lot 141.  1966 Rochester Red Wings Championship Pennant. The pennant, which measures 6 ¾” x 17 ¼”, identifies the Red Wings as “1966 Pennant Winners International League Champions.” A baseball with wings is pictured in red against a beige background. The attractive pennant has three pinholes, and the tip is taped on the back to the body of the pennant.

Lot 142.  9 Full-Sized 1970s-80s Major League Baseball Team, Player Pennants. The earliest of these full-sized pennants represents the New York Mets. Featuring a 1969 copyright, it was issued in 1969 or 1970. Vg. There also are 1970s-80s pennants representing the Mets vg, the “Swingin’ A’s” vg-ex with a pin hole, the Cardinals vg+, the Giants p, the California Angels (3 tack holes, a pin hole; otherwise a vg+ to ex appearance) and the “1987 Worlds Champions” Twins vg-ex. The players featured on the pennants are Nolan Ryan, 5,000 strikeouts, vg-ex with several small stains on the front, and Don Mattingly, circa 1989, vg with pin holes.

Lot 209.  1950s Pittsburgh Pirates Full-Sized Pennant. Colorful Pirate and white team name on a black field. Ex appearance with slight fraying at the tip and a light stain on “rgh.”

Lot 210.  Pittsburgh Pirates 1950s, 1979 World Series Pennants. Both are full-sized. The 1950s pennant has the Pirates mascot, in pink, gray and beige, over Forbes Field. Gold on black lettering. Vg+ to ex, displays very well. The World Series pennant, which has a large image of the Pirates mascot and a rendering of Three Rivers Stadium, is dated 1979 and notes that the Pirates are the “National League Champions.” Ex black on gold example.

Lot 211.  Scarce 1958 Pittsburgh Pirates Scroll Pennant with Clemente, Mazeroski, Kluszewski. Full-sized pennant in white on a red field presents Danny Murtaugh as the manager and lists 18 players in the scroll. Foiles is incorrectly spelled “Foile.” Among the other players are Virdon, Skinner, Thomas, Groat, Face and Law. Friend is the most obvious name that is absent. Tack holes on the gold strip at the left and near the tip. Vg.

Lot 212.  1960 Pittsburgh Pirates World Series “Ship” Pennant with Players’ Names Listed. This full-sized 11 ½” x 29” pennant is rare and exceptionally nice. In white on a blue background, it features a pirate identified as “Murtaugh” on his hat making a scrawny player representing the American League walk the plank. Names of the 25 Pirates players appear on the mast of the ship, dubbed the“1960 World Series.” Surprisingly, all of the names are spelled correctly. The pennant identifies the pirates as the “National League Champs.” Ex-m to nm with some wear showing on the yellow stripe at the left. Wonderful and unusual.
