Lot 213.  Pittsburgh Pirates 1960 NL Champions “Beat ‘Em Bucs” Scroll Pennant. This 10 ¾” x 29” pennant has it all, and what sets it apart from similar versions is the “Beat ‘Em Bucs” slogan and a “Murtaugh - Mgr.” banner beneath the pirate head. The names of 23 players and coaches appear in a scroll. Schofield, Christopher, Cimoli and Haddix all are spelled incorrectly. The pennant identifies the Pirates as “National League Champions.” White text on black with some beige, pink and gray in the pirate. Ex to ex-m.
Winning Bid $185.

Lot 214.  1960 Pittsburgh Pirates Picture Pennant Including Clemente, Mazeroski, Groat. G photo with players identified on the back. Vg pennant.
Winning Bid $66.

Lot 215.  1961 Pittsburgh Pirates “1960 World Champions” Color Photo Pennant. This 11 ½” x 29 ½” pennant houses a 6 ½” x 8 ½” color photo of the 1961 team with “1960 World Champions” emblazoned beneath. The players are identified on the back of the photo. The presence of Bobby Shantz marks it as the 1961 team. Otherwise, all of the players were part of the World Championship team. The pennant has a white field with yellow and black type and images. This tough-to-find pennant has several holes toward the tip; otherwise vg to vg-ex with a photo that displays very nicely.
Winning Bid $50.

Lot 217.  1967 Pittsburgh Pirates Color Photo Pennant. The photo is 6 ½” x 8 ½” on this 11 ¾” x 29 ¾” pennant, and the players are identified on the front. The team includes such recognizable names as Clemente, Stargell, Mazeroski, Mota, Wills, Matty Alou and Clendenon. Clemente led the N.L. in batting with a .357 average. This is one of the more difficult 1960s Pirates pennants to find. “1967” appears in black on a moveable gold banner. The pennant has a light stain on the 1967 banner and in the lower right corner of the photo. There are several small holes below and to the left of the photo. Otherwise, the pennant is clean. Overall, it displays as vg to vg-ex.
Winning Bid $50.

Lot 218.  1968 Pittsburgh Pirates Photo Pennant Includ-ing Clemente, Stargell, Bunning, Maz. Great-looking, clean, full-sized pennant that is free of stains and pin holes. It does show some wrinkles, and there is wear on the black stripe at the left. Nm b&w photo with players identified below.

Lot 219.  6 Pennants from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, Panthers, Spirit. These full-sized pennants are primarily from the 1970s and 1980s. Two pennants, one from the 1970s and one from the 1980s, represent the Steelers. The earlier pennant is vg-ex with several pin holes, and later one is g-vg with pin holes. Both feature the Steelers’ helmet. One Panthers football pennant is from the 1970s (“Pittsburgh,” earlier mascot, vg-ex with a pin hole), and the other is from the 1980s (“Pitt Panthers,” running mascot, vg). The Pirates’ entry is a 2001 pennant marking the first inter-league series, against Cleveland, at PNC Park, nm with a crease toward the tip. Also included is a poster of Pitt Stadium.
Winning Bid $35.

Lot 220.  Magnificent “Pittsburgh Backs Its Bucs” 1979 World Series 44” x 45” Banner. The banner has several stains along the left and right edges from a substance that someone used to display it. It also has some chalk or paint stains that likely could be removed. The banner serves as a nostalgic reminder of those wonderful and ancient days when the Pirates fielded competitive teams.
