Lot 707.  “Star Wars” Darth Vader Poster Created, Signed by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. Better known as “The Brothers Hildebrandt,” Greg and Tim became internationally famous after creating the original “Star Wars” poster. Tim passed away last year. This colorful nm 18” x 24” poster is signed in pencil by bother artists. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 708.  Unlined 3” x 5” Index Card Signed by President Gerald Ford. Widespread admiration for President Ford was evident following his recent death. The index card has a bold 10 signature of the President, who was a standout football player at Michigan. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 709.  UPDATED DESCRIPTION: Autographs of 4 Political Leaders - Forrestal, McCormack, Etc. Five Democrats and a Johnny-come-lately Republican. Hubert H. Humphrey, U.S. Senator from Minnesota and Vice President under Lyndon Johnson who ran unsuccessfully for the Presidency in 1968. Nm to nm-m 7-8 signature on a 7 ½” x 9 ½” b&w photo with pin holes in the corners. Janet Reno, Attorney General to President Clinton. Personalized ex-m 6 autograph on 8” x 10” color photo. James Forrestal, first Secretary of Defense, on a typed 1946 letter, as Secretary of the Navy, to the president of Texaco. The letter is adhered to stiff paper. The signature in fountain pen is nm-m 8. John McCormack, Speaker of the House of Representatives 1963-71, on an 8 ½” x 9 ½” printed picture. Nm-m 8 fountain pen. Claude A. Swanson, U.S. Senator, Virginia Governor, Secretary of the Navy under Franklin D. Roosevelt. Fountain pen mint 9 on a 3 ½” x 2 ½” card. Phil Gramm, a Democrat member of the House of Representatives from Texas who switched parties and eventually became a Republican U.S. Senator. Nm 7 on an 8” x 10” b&w photo. Lot 710.  Autographs of 5 NASA Astronauts, 1 from the European Space Administration. Four autographs are on NASA biographical data sheets – Robert L. Crippen, James van Hoften, George D. Nelson and Bruce McCandless. Crippen logged more than 23 days in space on Skylab and other missions. He later served as director of the John F. Kennedy Space Center. The autographs are nm-m 8 or better. The autograph of a fifth NASA astronaut, Rhea Seddon, is on a personalized 8” x 10” color photo. Nm-m 8 signature. The ESA astronaut is Ulf Merbold, a member of the Spacelab-1 scientific crew and the first non-American to fly as part of the program. Nm-m 8. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 711.  Signed Photos of Clint Eastwood, Robert DeNiro, Desi Arnaz + Marvin Hamlisch. The photos are black & white. Eastwood autographed a 5” x 7”, DeNiro an 8” x 10” and Arnaz a 5” x 7”. All autographs are nm-m 8. DeNiro’s is personalized. Hamlisch signed two programs for an event honoring Joe Torre; mint 9. Also, a photo signed “Mickey” by Mickey the Clown; vg 3.

Lot 712.  Handwritten Letter Signed by Buffalo Bob Smith of “Howdy Doody” Fame. Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Smith was a radio singer and musician before he created and hosted the popular “Howdy Doody” television program on NBC from 1947-60. He died in 1998. Smith’s letter, dated 1989 and written on 7” x 10 ½” letterhead, transmits a photo of Clarabell and himself. At the bottom of the letterhead is a printed drawing of Smith and Howdy. The letter has some creases along the bottom edge. It is signed “Bob Smith,” and the signature is a mint 9. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 714.  Jan. 28, 1966 Time Cover-Only Signed by India Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, Gandhi served as the country’s leader from 1966-77 and again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. The cover has two folds. Her signature is complete and shows as a nm 7 against a dark background. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 716.  Signature of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos on the Oct. 21, 1966 Time. Cover only, folded three times for mailing. Compared with such dictators as Robert Mugabe and Kim Jong-il, Marcos appears to be an economic genius. He suffers in comparisons with many of his Asian contemporaries, however, whose economies flourished after they focused on providing exports. Marcos died in Hawaii in 1989. His personalized signature is grades mint 9. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 718.  Time Issues Signed by McNamara, Rusk, Architects of U.S. Vietnam War Policy. Robert S. McNamara, Secretary of Defense under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, signed the Feb. 15, 1963, cover. The autograph of Dean Rusk, Secretary of State, is on the Dec. 6, 1963, issue. Covers only, both folded for mailing. McNamara’s signature is a nm to nm-m 7-8, and Rusk’s, a mint 9. Rusk died in 1994. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 719.  Time Signed by Vietnam Era Military Leaders – Westmore-land, Abrams, Etc. Covers only, all folded for mailing. Two different issues were signed by the leaders of U.S. forces in Vietnam, William Westmoreland (died 1993), Feb. 19, 1965, and Creighton W. Abrams (d. 1974), April 19, 1968. Westmoreland’s signature is a mint 9. Abrams signed a label that is affixed to the cover, and the signature is a 10. The Feb. 5 issue has the signatures of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: Earle G. Wheeler (Chairman, d. 1975), David McDonald (Navy), John McConnell (Air Force), Wallace M. Greene, Jr. (Marines) and Harold K. Johnson (Army). These signatures are 9s and 10s. Gen. Johnson is pictured on the Dec. 10, 1965 issue; his autograph is a nm-m 8. Admiral U. G. Sharp (d. 2001) signed the Aug. 14, 1964, cover; his signature is a 9-10. Nine autographs. Lot 720.  5 1960s Time Covers Autographed by South Vietnam Leaders. Covers only, which were folded for mailing. 1. Madame Ngo Dihn Nhu, born Tran Le Xuan. Called the “Dragon Lady” by critics, she was a force in South Vietnam politics when the country was led by her husband’s brother, Ngo Dihn Diem, 1955-63. Signature is an ex-m 6 to nm 7. 2. Gen. Duong Van Minh, Army chief who led the country briefly after overthrowing Diem. Nm-m 8 signature. 3. Nguyen Khanh, who led the coup against Minh and became Chief of State. Mint 9 signature. 4. Nguyen Cao Ky, Prime Minister, 1965-67. Signature grades 9. 5. Nguyen Van Thieu, President from 1967 until the fall of Saigon in 1975. He died in 2001. Signed “Thieu.” Signature is a 10 with “Nov. 16, 1967” added. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
