Lot 226. 5 Magazine Ads with Dickey, Musial, Gibson & Other Baseball Players. A 1946 ad has Bill Dickey, New York Yankees manager, and Mel Ott, New York Giants manager, endorsing Chesterfield Cigarettes. In two separate ads, Stan Musial promotes Quadriga cloth from dry goods manufacturer Ely & Walker of St. Louis and Hamm’s Beer (1949). In the Quadriga ad, he wears a T-shirt and briefs. His young son is dressed in a shirt and shorts. The ad provides cut-out pajamas and other clothing for the two models. In a 1950 ad, Bill Veeck tells baseball fans, “I lived in Milwaukee, I ought to know … Blatz is Milwaukee’s Finest Beer!” A 1954 ad for Camels on a magazine cover has sports announcer Red Barber and 14 baseball players recommending the R. J. Reyonlds Tobacco Co. product. The cast of supporters includes Mickey Mantle, Ted Kluszewski, Red Schoendienst, Warren Spahn Eddie Lopat and Harvey Kuenn. Except for the Camels ad, the ads are approximately 10” x 14”. All generally have some BORDER clips, chips, creases and tears. The ads themselves are ex or better. The Camel ad is 9.75” x 12.75” and vg-ex. Minimum Bid $15.
