Ned Garver Signature Model Wilson Youth Baseball Glove and 2 Autographs.
Lot 225. Ned Garver Signature Model Wilson Youth Baseball Glove and 2 Autographs. In 14 MLB seasons, Garver pitched for two teams that had winning records – in which they finished a total of 14 games above .500. Playing for the Browns, Tigers, Athletics and Angels, he had a winning record three times and was a .500 pitcher one other time. In 1951, he accounted for 20 of the Browns’ 52 victories, pitched complete games in 24 of the 30 he started, was an All-Star and finished second in the AL’s MVP voting. In the 20th century, he and Irv Young were the only pitchers to win 20 games with a team that lost at least 100. The Wilson glove shows light use. Garver’s facsimile autograph, the illustration of a pitcher and other markings on the glove remain very strong. His autographs, on a 1951 souvenir program for “Ned Garver Day” in Defiance, OH, and an accompanying schedule, are mint 9 to gem mint 10. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified the autographs.
Garver died in 2017. Winning Bid $40.
