President Kennedy Limited Edition Commemorative Coin Set with a Donjo Sculpture.

Lot 398. President Kennedy Limited Edition Commemorative Coin Set with a Donjo Sculpture. Donjo is widely recognized for his portrait, fairy tale character and endangered species sculptures consistent with surrealism, realism and fantasy art styles. His sculptures depicting endangered marine life are especially popular. For this commemorative display, Donjo used his talent to create a bronze sculpture presenting a profile of John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the U.S. The sculpture is professionally framed to 16” x 13” with two Kennedy half dollars, one of them from 1964 when the coins were made of 90 percent silver. Both are plated in 24 karat gold. According to the Certificate of Authenticity, the gold-plated filigree bezels that surround the coins contain “a total of 10 genuine rubies, emeralds, and sapphires.” The wood (poplar) frame shows some tiny chips and scratches. The contents are nm-m to mint. As many of 2,000 of these commemoratives were created for each U.S. state; according to the COA, this example represents Nevada. Winning Bid $25.
