Warren Spahn as a New York Met Autographed 11” x 14” Color Photo.

Lot 82. Warren Spahn as a New York Met Autographed 11” x 14” Color Photo. This photo displays well, with Spahn in a follow-through pitching pose and a large Sharpie autograph with four letters smudged. Stan Musial called Spahn “an artist with imagination.” In 20 full seasons, the left-hander won 363 games, more than any other lefty. His career win total was almost certainly reduced by the three years he served in World War II. He won at least 20 games 13 times, led the N.L. in wins eight times; in ERA, three times; and in strikeouts, four times. He was a 17-time All-Star and earned the Cy Young Award in 1957. He pitched for the Mets in 1965, his final MLB season. In 1973, his first year of eligibility, Spahn was elected to the Hall of Fame. In its “Baseball’s 100 Greatest Players” list, “The Sporting News” ranked him 21st, ahead of all other left-handed pitchers and behind Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Grover Alexander, Cy Young and Satchel Paige. Spahn died in 2003. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified. Minimum Bid $10.
