Lot 267. Charley Trippi Autographed Mini-Helmet with “HOF68” Added. Trippi’s gem mint 10 signature is on a mint Riddell mini-helmet with a Cardinals logo. The autograph has been PSA/DNA Pre-Certified. From 1947-55, Trippi was primarily a running back with the Chicago Cardinals, which moved to St. Louis in 1960 and then to the Phoenix area in 1988. He is in both the College (played for Georgia) and Pro Football Halls of Fame. In 1947 as a rookie, he contributed to the Cardinals’ NFL championship by leading the team’s “Million Dollar Backfield.” He was a first-team All-Pro in 1947, a Pro Bowl selection twice and a member of the NFL’s 1940s All-Decade Team. A versatile athlete, he also played quarterback and defensive back, punted, returned kicks and was good at catching passes. When he retired, he held the NFL record for total offense. Trippi died in Oct. 2022 at the age of 100. Winning Bid $20.
