The jersey is mint. “The Sporting News” ranked Namath 96th on its 1999 list of Football’s 100 Greatest Players. In 1969 in Super Bowl III, he led the Jets to the first win by an American Football League team. He was the game’s MVP as the Jets defeated Baltimore, 16-7. Namath’s other football achievements include a national collegiate championship with his Alabama team in 1964, AFL Rookie of the Year in 1965, two-time AFL MVP, NFL passing yards and passing touchdowns leader in 1972 and the 1974 Comeback Player of the Year. In 1969, he received the inaugural George Halas Award, given by the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) to a NFL player, coach or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to succeed.
