Lot 17. Richie Ashburn Bold Sharpie Autograph on a Perez-Steele 1996 Hall of Fame Postcard. The Veterans Committee elected Ashburn to the Hall of Fame in 1995. His credentials for election included a .308 career batting average and 2,574 hits from 1948-62, primarily with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a six-time All-Star across three decades, a two-time NL batting champion, the 1948 NL stolen base leader, and he frequently led NL outfielders in fielding percentage. His autograph on these Perez-Steele 1996 Thirteenth Series postcards is scarce. A heart attack claimed his life in 1997. His signature here is, conservatively, mint 9 and well placed.
