Lot 361. Gene Sarazen Mint 9 Bold Black Sharpie Signature on a Spalding Golf Ball. Born in Harrison, NY, Sarazen was one of the world’s leading golfers in the 1920s and 1930s. He won 38 PGA events, including seven major championships. He was the first to win each of the four major championships (U.S Open, PGA, The Open and the Masters) at least once. Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have matched this achievement. In 1932, Sarazen was the AP Male Athlete of the Year.
