Lot 752. 5 Books on Burlesque, Glamour Girls, Pin-Ups, Etc. The earliest of these books is a 1956 hardback by Bernard Sobel, “A Pictorial History of Burlesque,” 194 pages, vg+ to ex book with sunned edges on the covers and an inscription on the flyleaf, vg-ex dust jacket, ex to ex-m pages. The other books are softcovers, two by Len Rothe and two by Steve Sullivan. The Rothe books are “The Bare Truth… Stars of Burlesque from the 40s & 50s,” 112 pages, 1998, nm+, and “The Queens of Burlesque: Vintage Photographs” from the 1940s and 1950,” 112 pages, 1997, ex-m. The books by Sullivan are “Va Va Voom! Bombshells, Pin-ups, Sexpots and Glamour Girls,” 288 pages, 1995 first edition, nm, and “BombShells: Glamour Girls of a Lifetime,” 1998 first edition, ex-m to nm. The books by Sobel and Sullivan provide an excellent history of burlesque or glamour girls, etc., with a good mix of text and black & white photos. Rothe’s books are largely a collection of full-page b&w photos. “Va Va Voom!” contains 16 pages of color photos, and “BombShells,” eight. Among the subjects are Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, June Wilkinson, Tempest Storm, Lili St. Cyr and dozens more. Winning Bid $20.
