Lot 680. Two Extremely Rare Topps Non-Sport Display Box Tops – 1957 Hit Stars and 1958 Zorro. The boxes that are the source of these lids once held 5-cent wax packs. Here are some details on the Topps tops. Hit Stars: Names on the lid include James Dean, Fats Domino, Debbie Reynolds, the Four Lads and others. An illustration in the upper right corner resembles Elvis. In 2019, a complete Hit Stars 1-cent display box sold at auction for more than $850. Zorro: Two illustrations of Zorro are on the box top. A large image has him in full costume. In a much smaller illustration, he is engaged in a sword fight. Text below encourages collectors to “SEE ZORRO EVERY WEEK ON TV”. A complete Zorro 5-cent wax pack display box sold at auction in 2019 for more than $750. Each of these box lids has a moderate amount of creases. The top portion of each lid is missing; both of these sections are blank, with no text or illustration. Each top displays nicely with extremely strong colors and could easily become part of an attractive display.
