Two Extremely Rare Topps Non-Sport Display Box Tops – 1957 Hit Stars and 1958 Zorro.

Lot 680. Two Extremely Rare Topps Non-Sport Display Box Tops – 1957 Hit Stars and 1958 Zorro. The boxes that are the source of these lids once held 5-cent wax packs. Here are some details on the Topps tops. Hit Stars: Names on the lid include James Dean, Fats Domino, Debbie Reynolds, the Four Lads and others. An illustration in the upper right corner resembles Elvis. In 2019, a complete Hit Stars 1-cent display box sold at auction for more than $850. Zorro: Two illustrations of Zorro are on the box top. A large image has him in full costume. In a much smaller illustration, he is engaged in a sword fight. Text below encourages collectors to “SEE ZORRO EVERY WEEK ON TV”. A complete Zorro 5-cent wax pack display box sold at auction in 2019 for more than $750. Each of these box lids has a moderate amount of creases. The top portion of each lid is missing; both of these sections are blank, with no text or illustration. Each top displays nicely with extremely strong colors and could easily become part of an attractive display. These two tops present an excellent opportunity to pick up the most significant part of each display box without spending $1,600 or so! Winning Bid $50.
