Sept. 30, 1956 Giants vs. the San Francisco Forty Niners. The 1956 Giants were the NFL Eastern Conference Champions with an 8-3-1 record and the NFL Champions with a 47-7 victory over the Chicago Bears in the league’s title game. They also won their season opener, 38-21, against San Francisco at Kezar stadium. The 22-page program is vg with photos of various players, including Roosevelt Brown, Frank Gifford, John Henry Johnson, Tom Landry, Vince Lombardi, Hugh McElhenny, Leo Nomellini and Y.A. Tittle. The two other programs are for Giants’ games at Yankee Stadium: 2. Oct. 18, 1959, vs. Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia 24, New York 7. The loss was one of only two as the 1959 Giants clinched the NFL Eastern Conference Championship with a 10-2 record. Chuck Bednarik, Charlie Conerly, Rosey Grier, Tommy McDonald and Norm Van Brocklin are among the players shown. Vince Lombardi, in his first year as head coach of the Packers, and Paul Hornung are in a promotion for an upcoming game with the Giants. The 1959 season was the Cardinals’ 40th and last in Chicago. A ticket stub from the game is stapled to page 1 of the program, which otherwise is vg+. The stub is vg because of the staple.
