The 1955 Browns were NFL Champions, while the Bears narrowly finished second in the Western Division. The 1958 Bears were again runners-up in their conference. 1. Oct. 9, 1955, Browns vs. the Philadelphia Eagles at Cleveland Stadium. The Browns recorded one of their nine regular-season wins, 21-17. Nov. 13, 1955, Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams at Wrigley Field. In this game, the Bears beat the Rams 24-3. It was their second win of the seasons over the West Coast team, but Los Angeles wound up as the Western Conference champion because of a tie game. Chicago finished the season with an 8-4 record. Los Angeles clinched the conference title with an 8-3-1 season. The week after their loss to the Bears, the Rams battled Baltimore to a 17-17 tie. Oct. 4, 1958 Bears vs. the Baltimore Colts at Baltimore Memorial Stadium. Baltimore won, 51-38. The Colts continued to have success, winning the NFL Western Conference Championship with a 9-3 record and then defeating the New York Giants in overtime in the NFL Championship Game, 23-17.
