Lot 386. 1927 American Bowling Congress 27th International Tournament Ribbon. This cloth ribbon, measuring approximately 1 5/8” x 4”, is a real attention-grabber. The craftsmanship is outstanding. On an off-white background, an American flag is displayed below text that reads “American Bowling Congress 27th International Tournament.” And below the flag, “Peoria, Ill. Mar.5 to Apr.10 1927.” A label folded behind the ribbon itself identifies the manufacturer, “Warner Woven Label Co. Inc. Paterson, N.J.” This hidden label has a pin hole. The American Bowling Congress, formed in New York City in 1895, set the rules, regulations and standards for tenpin bowling. More than 1,400 bowlers participated in the 1927 event.
