Lot 261. 5 1969 Pittsburgh Pirates Wire or Newspaper Morgue Photos – Patek, Hebner, Belinsky. Three photos from the files of the Pittsburgh “Post-Gazette,” each 7” x 10” or 8” x 10”, have individual images of Fred Patek, Richie Hebner or Bo Belinsky. Each photo exhibits tape stains around the edges, surface wrinkles or cracks (Patek photo), sharp focus and strong contrast. The Patek photo has a chip along the right edge, and the Belinsky photo has light stains throughout. These are glossy photos, each with the player’s name written on the front. Two additional 8 x 10s are 1969 AP wire photos that were transmitted electronically. They are printed on regular photo stock and include the caption. One photo shows Orlando Cepeda sliding safely ahead of the tag by the Pirates’ Jose Martinez. Patek is in the photo. Vg. The other has Patek putting on a new shoe after he damaged his on a play; the Pirates’ bat boy looks on. F. Both photos have tape stains around the edges. Seven off-condition early Pirates team photos taken from a magazine, a photo of Bill Robinson and a 1985 Topps card of Vernon and Vance Law accompany the wire and newspaper photos. Teams from 1906, 1927, 1954 and 1964 are included in the 4” x 8” magazine photos.
