One of the greatest sprinters ever, Johnson won four gold medals in three Olympiads. He earned gold medals in the 4 x 400 meter relay at Barcelona in 1992, in the 200 and 400 meter events at Atlanta in 1996, and in the 400 meter competition at Sydney in 2000. He also earned eight gold medals in the World Championships. In 2004 he was elected to the U.S. Track and Field Hall of Fame, which selected his 200 meter performance at the 1996 Olympics as the greatest track and field moment of the last 25 years.
