Lot 178. 4 Original 8” x 10” Color Johnny Unitas Photos. All four photos are attributed to Hugh B. McNally and appear to have been printed in 1973 in an edition of 300. All are ex-m to nm. One shows a posed Unitas ready to throw a football. Another captures game action, and a third has Unitas apparently removing his jacket before returning to the field to direct the Baltimore Colts’ offense. A fourth has a single-engine plane towing a sign saying “Unitas We Stand.” Wonderful display items of one of the best quarterbacks ever. In their listings of top athletes or top football players at the end of the 20th century, ESPN and “The Sporting News” ranked only Joe Montana as a better quarterback.
