Lot 311. 9 AP 1969 Wire Photos Picturing Mays, Dodgers, Astros, Red Sox, Etc. AP transmitted these photos electronically to newspapers, where they were captured on photographic paper. Each is about 7” x 8.5” plus the caption, which is part of the photo. Each has tape stains around the edges, almost totally in the border or on part of the caption. Several are glued to scrapbook paper. Vg overall, with decent contrast, generally moderate to strong. In a photo taken in San Diego, Willie Mays gives the slide sign to teammate Tito Fuentes. Subjects of three photos taken in Boston are future Hall of Fame manager Dick Williams, Mike Andrews (with Yankees pitcher Mel Stottlemyre), and rookie Billy Conigliaro (sliding into third base). Detroit hurler Mike Kilkenny is shown delivering a pitch. In two photos from Houston, the Astros John Edwards tags out the Dodgers’ Willie Crawford, and Doug Rader tags the Reds’ Lee May. The two remaining photos show Atlanta’s Sonny Jackson and LA’s Jim Lefebvre, and Lefebvre and the Braves’ Bob Didier.
