Lot 550.  Oakland Raiders Book Signed by Alzado, Branch, Hendricks, Plunkett, Etc. Autographs of Lyle Alzado (d. 1992), Clifford Branch, Ted Hendricks, Jim Plunkett, Tom Flores and Marcus Allen are on the first title page of “Super! The Raiders in their Finest Hour,” a 1981 stated first edition hardback edited by Murray Olderman. The signatures are mint 9 or gem mint 10. Allen and Hendricks are in the Pro Hall of Fame. The page also contains a secretarial signature of Al Davis. The book is ex, and the dust jacket, vg+ to ex. A signed “Property of Thomas Edward John” label comes with the book. Kevin Keating authenticated the autographs.

Lot 551.  5 Footballs Signed by All-Pro Yancey Thigpen, a Super Bowl XXV Pennant, Etc. Thigpen began his NFL career with San Diego but had his best seasons with Pittsburgh and then Tennessee. With the Steelers, he was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection at wide receiver in 1995 and 1997. He played in Super Bowls with both the Steelers and the Titans. His autographs are nm-m 8, and authenticated by Kevin Keating, each on a panel of a Carolina Panthers 1996 NFC Western Division Champions football. Why he signed a Panthers ball is unclear. The footballs are nm to nm-m, four in their original packaging. Also included are a Super Bowl XXV full-sized pennant (Giants defeat Bills) ex+; a 1990s Chicago Bears full-sized pennant (tip held on with tape) and a Bears adjustable cap ex+. From Tommy John’s collection and accompanied by two signed “Property of Thomas Edward John” labels.

Lot 552.  Kelly Stouffer Autographed Seattle Seahawks Riddell Game Helmet. Stouffer played for Seattle from 1988-92. The autograph is dark but shows breaks in various letters and an abrasion on the bottom of “ff.” The size 7 3/8 helmet is marked “Reject 1981” on the inside. It has an nm-m appearance and is without a chin strap.

Lot 553.  Pro, College Football Books, Programs and Periodicals – Raiders, Bears, Super Bowl, Etc. One program is from Super Bowl XVI, vg+ to ex, and two from Super Bowl XLI, ex-m. Three programs are from Chicago Bears games, 1998 vs. Jacksonville, one page loose, vg; 1999 vs. Seattle, vg+, and 2007 vs. Denver, ex. Two softcover books focus on the Oakland Raiders: “Crowning Glories: The Raiders Three Super Bowl Triumphs,” 1986, ex-m, and “Will to Win: The First Five Years in Los Angeles 1982-1986”, 1987, nm. College football is the subject of Duke’s 1998 yearbook, vg-ex, and six Indiana State programs, one from 1979 and five the same from 1989, ex to nm. Six periodicals have football covers: “Sport,” Sept. 1999, Keyshawn Johnson cover, p-f, and Oct. 1999, Brett Favre cover, ex; and “The Sporting News,” Aug. 27, 1984 (Texas U.); Dec. 10 1984 (Eric Dickerson); Jan. 7, 1985 (Dolphins); Jan. 14, 1985, and Jan. 21, 1985 (Joe Montana). The “TSN” issues are folded horizontally, and the issue with Montana on the cover has a 2.5” tear. Twenty-two publications. Three signed “Property of Thomas Edward John” labels come with these publications. Kevin Keating authenticated the autographs.
