Tommy John Los Angeles Dodgers Memorabilia.

Lot 530. Tommy John Los Angeles Dodgers Memorabilia. John was part of the Dodgers organization from 1972-78. As a Dodger, he successfully underwent what has become known as “Tommy John surgery.” He also posted 87 of his 288 career victories there, including his first 20-win season, and finished second to Steve Carlton in the 1977 Cy Young voting. This group contains a number of items associated with the Dodgers: 1. Dodgers baseball commemorating the 30th anniversary of Dodger Stadium and autographed by John. Nm 7 autograph and nm-m baseball. 2. Dodgers license plate autographed by John, Manny Mota, Clem Labine and Ron Cey. Nm-m plate and autographs averaging nm-m 8. 3. Dodgers 1.75” red, white and blue pin with a ribbon and bat and ball attached. Nm-m pin. 4. “1974 Champions” 6” Dodgers pin with the team logo and facsimile autographs of team members. These Dodgers won the N.L. pennant. Vg. 5. LA Amtrak watch key chain with a baseball floating in liquid. (May work if battery is replaced). 6. Jackie Robinson 50th Anniversary commemorative baseball, nm-m. 7. Sixteen programs and seven hand-made scorecards scored for games that John pitched. 8. A scorebook with 19 games at least partially scored for games that John pitched in 1976. Some of the scorer’s clarifying comments are interesting. 9. “The Los Angeles Dodgers: The First Twenty Years,” 1977 hardback by Frank Finch, flyleaf inscribed, ex book, vg+ dust jacket. 11. Hand-held fan 8.75” x 8.25” from Casablanca Ceiling Fans with a photo of Duke Snider. The fan salutes Snider at the retirement of his uniform number on July 6, 1980. G. 12. Five 1977 Dodgers “Autographed Collectors Plaques,” each 3” x 4” with facsimile autographs. Three are mint in their original packages. 13. Don Drysdale 1984 Hall of Fame Induction Z Cachet, ex-m. 14. Eight Dodgers team-issued postcards including John (pin holes) and Garvey and Cey (average ex). 15. A signed John name tag from a golf event. 16. A bag tag for Tom Lasorda’s 1985 Golf Classic with John’s name on it. 17. A 10.5” x 11.5” cloth with stitching saying “Los Angeles Dodgers Tommy John.” 18. A “Go Dodgers” watch, unused, battery powered, not working. 19. Fifty “LA Dodgers” baseball stickers, each on a 3” x 3.25” section of paper. 20. A Dodgers Louisville Slugger bat mechanical pencil, ex+. 21. A 1991 Dodgers “Team Photo and Commemorative Stamp Collection.” 22. A pair of unused Dodgers small red and white batting gloves. 23. A 5” x 7” photo of John. 24. 1977 Dodgers’ “Game Information” pages with data on John. 25. A Ron Cey 45 rpm record and picture sleeve – “One Game at a Time” on one side and “Third Base Bag” on the other. Ex+ record, g-vg sleeve. 26. A 1975 Terre Haute magazine with an article speculating that John might return from “Tommy John surgery” before the end of the season. He didn’t. 27. A quote from Roy Campanella double-matted and framed to 7” x 9.25”: “You gotta be a man to play baseball for a living but you gotta have a lot of little boy in you, too.” 28. A “Greats of the Game” 1999 Fleer card signed by John. Nm-m 8 signature. Kevin Keating authenticated the autographs.
