Lot 606. Vintage Football Collectibles Including Autographs of Buddy Parker and John Karras. Parker is one of the better NFL coaches not in the Hall of Fame. He won NFL Championships as coach of the Detroit Lions in 1952 and 1953 and made it to the championship game in 1954. In 1958, he led the Pittsburgh Steelers’ to their first winning season of the 1950s, and his team’s 9-5 record in 1962 was, at the time, the second best in the Steelers’ 30-year history; Jock Sutherland’s 1947 team was 8-4. Parker’s signature is nm 7 on 1964 Philadelphia Gum card #154. Parker died in 1982. John Karras (died 2008) signed 1953 Bowman #51; the nm-m 8 autograph is personalized. He played for the University of Illinois and the Chicago Cardinals. With the cards is a program for the 1969 Hall of Fame Game program, Atlanta vs. Green Bay, vg. The program recognizes the players inducted into the HoF that weekend – Turk Edwards, Greasy Neale, Leo Nomellini, Joe Perry and Ernie Stautner. Also, a promotional flyer for the 1970 Michigan State team. Ex-m. Joe Theismann as a Notre Dame opponent.
