Lot 694. 1941 Program and Ticket for a Pittsburgh Dinner Honoring Paul and Lloyd Waner. The Pittsburgh Sports Writers conducted the event. From 1927 through 1939, the Waner brothers helped to give Pittsburgh one of the strongest outfields in baseball. After the 1940 season, the Pirates released Paul, and in early 1941, they traded Lloyd to Boston. Both players are pictured on the cover of the eight-page program, which is vg+ with some soiling at the top. The ticket also is vg+. A member of the 3,000-hit club with a .333 career batting average, Paul was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1952. A .316 career batter, Lloyd was enshrined in 1967.
