Pittsburgh Pirates Pennants   10 Lots      



Lot 220.  Pittsburgh Pirates Extremely Rare 1925 “Champions” 24.5” Pennant. With stars such as Pie Traynor, Max Carey, Kiki Cuyler, Lee Meadows, Ray Kremer and Vic Aldridge, the Pirates won the National League title by 8.5 games and then defeated the Washington Senators in seven games in the World Series. The pennant’s graphics include a batter inside a large baseball with “Champions” in white above and “1925” below. “Pittsburgh” is in gold on a black field. Free of tack holes, the pennant has a slightly rounded tip and shows minor cracking in the graphics. Ex to ex-m. For display or cheering the Pirates on, it is attached to a colorful 26.75” stick that is topped off with a smiling face. This pennant is rarely seen.

Lot 221.  Very Rare Pittsburgh Pirates 1930s Three-Quarter Sized Pennant. This white on dark-purple pennant with a rare version of the Pirate measures almost 23” from the gold stripe to tip. Ex to ex-m clean pennant featuring unusual colors and design.

Lot 222.  1930s Pittsburgh Pirates Full-Sized Gold-on-Black Pennant. An unusual Pirate mascot and “Pirates” constitute the graphics of this pennant, which turns up infrequently. Minor tip clip; ex.

Lot 223.  1930s Pittsburgh Pirates Scarce White-on-Black 27" Pennant. This pennant, from an extensive Pirates collection, is the only example we have seen. The mascot wears a striped uniform. Ex with the white stripe showing soiling and tack holes.

Lot 224.  Pittsburgh Pirates Rare 1930s Mascot Pennant. Seldom-seen 28" gold-on-black pennant. Ex with several pin holes and a small spot of cloth loss in the stripe and inoffensive cracking in the graphics.

Lot 225.  Pittsburgh Pirates Rare 1940s Red-on-Blue Full-Sized Pennant. Very attractive pennant, nm except for minor rounding of the tip. Ex-m to ex-m+.

Lot 226.  Pittsburgh Pirates 1960 National League Champions Full-Sized Photo Pennant. These Pirates, including Roberto Clemente, defeated the Yankees in the World Series. Clean, soil-free example with three tack holes and some fraying at the tip. Ex to ex-m.

Lot 227.  Pittsburgh Pirates Scarce 1960 “Beat ‘Em, Bucs” Three-Quarter Size Pennant. This gold-on-black 23.25” pennant features an unusual Pirates mascot. It is free of pin or tack holes, while the tip is rounded and frayed. Good-looking ex pennant.

Lot 228.  Pittsburgh Pirates Rare “1960 Champions” 26” Gold-on-Black Pennant. The gold stripe at the left is wider at the top than at the bottom. Otherwise, the pennant is ex-m. It turns up infrequently.

Lot 229.  Pittsburgh Pirates 1960 Full-Sized “Pennant ‘Feevah’” White on Black Pennant. This pennant presents the mascot that decorated many signs in Pittsburgh in October 1960. The tip is clipped; otherwise, the pennant is ex-m, free of soiling or tack or pin holes.
